UF Fans - does it concern you that Kelly hates the recruiting process?

Probably going to get outworked by Kirby and his bowlcut/helicopters. Guess he will have to just hope that recruits lineup to play for UF given his reputation for signing 260 lb offensive lineman.

I'm not gonna throw out the cliche "Florida recruits itself" line, but I think the Florida brand combined with the Chip Kelly name alone will sell to a lot of recruits.

Nobody was itching to play for Jim McElwain over the likes of Saban and Urban.

We just had McElwain recruiting for three years, I'll go with no. He'll be just fine.

I am more concerned with his dislike of boosters.

Recruiting at UF is easy. He rarely has to leave the state so it's not like it was at Oregon.

So no. I'm more worried about him and the UAA then recruiting. He will be fine recruiting.

Absolutely zero coaches enjoy the recruiting process. On the road trying to impress egotistical little shits and their families who think every one of them is the next Johnny Football, constantly away from your family and literally every important aspect of your life, for a large portion of the year.

You don't enjoy that unless you really hate your home life or really love hookers.

Great point. Even when you guys hired McElwain, my first thought was WTF!! We just need you guys to take a few recruits away from UGA every year so that Kirby's domain doesn't get too big.

While the Florida brand and Kelly's name will land a lot of prospects, it's the truly elite players that make a program and Chip will have to fight Saban, Kirby, Urban etc etc for them. I don't know if he's ready to step his recruiting game up.

I thought it was a good hire at the time. He did a nice job of rebuilding Colorado State and had SEC experience.

I'll do it for you. It isn't hard to get kids to go to Florida. Get assistants that can recruit, and he will do fine. Will be fun to watch if Miami keeps the ball rolling though.

More worried about the fit with Kelly.

Pretty sure Spurrier is still in the office.

A sharkfricker had the #9 class in the nation, recruiting should be fine. Our location makes recruiting easier travel wise than Oregon.

You and me both it made absolutely no sense from the beginning, obviously i rooted hard for him to succeed, but Foley really screwed up with his last two hires. Boom and Mac get the blame but the person who put our football program behind so much is the one and only Jeremy Foley. He was great at the non-revenue stuff but he just wouldn't make a splash in Football.

Billy D
Mike White
Sully (baseball is probably still non-revenue)

The U may have something to say about that now.

There are a ton of successful coaches that would tell you that they don't really like the recruiting process. It is a much more stressful thing to deal with than most people think.

I really believed in Boom when you guys hired him. I still think he will be as successful as a coach can be at South Carolina (meaning he might get the chance to lose to Auburn or Bama in an SEC Championship game once or twice in his 15 year tenure).

That bowlcut is the greatest thing to happen to recruiting since the standardization of the bagman
