Why cant they claim it. They weren't given a shot at it and teams like Bama claim titles from all kinds of dumb polls in the past.
It's why they need to give everyone a legit shot at the playoffs and hold losses against teams that lose or create another championship like an nit for schools not given a shot. Then put the top conferences in playoff divisions. Then no one can bitch about not getting their chance. If they lose and dont win their division then they can't win a championship or slip through any loop holes.
