“Low key starting to feel like someone gave my man Greedy a bad rep...I might know who that guy is...he always had his favorites.”
“Lol mcshay same dude said I couldn’t play on this level. Lol”

I bet Mathieu will never be in charge of drafting players for a NFL team
Greedy should just be happy to be drafted tomorrow night

Mathieu should probably bite his tongue here. I commend him for turning his life around, but Todd McShay didn't cause him to drop in the draft. Him getting kicked off the team and later arrested for refusing to stop smoking weed dropped him in the draft.

Neither will mcshay. There is a reason these guys are pundits and not managers. What HB is getting at is that it shouldn’t be the pundits place to introduce a negative storyline where there shouldn’t be one. Their job is to report and analyze, not to influence

Their job is to generate revenue for their employer. In today's media, that means generating clicks which means being controversial. If they wanted to be analysts in the true sense of the word, they'd be working for an NFL front office.

I'm sure billion dollar NFL franchises are influenced by Todd Mcshay.

I completely misread your post and thought your were talking about Greedy. Yes Mathieu dropped because of those things. He wasn’t commenting on what dropped him though that second comment was a reply to someone complaining about Mcshay and he was just pointing out the innacuracy of some of mcshay’s claims. I do think that the whole “Greedy is afraid to tackle” thing dropped his stock, which I had never heard before last week

NFL teams do not base their picks on what ESPN analysts say on tv.
Good lord man

Umm, yes sometimes that can happen. When they drive into the ground that Greedy is afraid to tackle that stuff gets out. I guarantee that those people looking at drafting a cornerback saw that

Whether it affects it or not, making baseless claims abou someones ability to do something that will be their future is irresponsible and careless and simply shouldn’t happen

NFL people don't give a shite what the guys on TV say Quit making excuses. I can't believe you're trying to say this is a TV personality's fault.

Baseless??? If only those NFL teams had tons of video on a player so they could see if the claims were "baseless"

Yes and no. Most of the higher ups don't know a lot about these players until the draft. The information is provided by scouts, college numbers, and combine/pro days. However, these players are built up by the media from high school recruiting until the draft. ESPN Analysts recognize/analyze NFL team needs and make predictions based upon that. Sometimes teams may run many models and have different scenarios that come into play as well. shite happens and eventually he will be drafted, make more money than us, and play in the NFL.

Think about it from this persoective. You are an NFL person trying to draft someone. What happens is pundits on tv say something like for example Greedy can’t tackle. People hear that and over time because that’s what the “experts” say and that’s what everybody believes. As a perspective drafter of players, you want to try to gather as much info on these players as possible. You ask people around you, they say Greedy can’t tackle because that’s what they heard. When everyone starts viewing something one way it’s very hard for anyone to look at that and just say that all of these people that think this one thing are wrong. People continue to underestimate the power of the media. No hose people aren’t listening to what pundits are saying, but some people are. Just a couple of weeks ago no one was saying any thing about Greedy’s tackling. Now it’s “common knowledge” that Greedy can’t tackle. It’s a chain reaction that starts with the media. Humans when faced with overwhelming majority opinion almost always drift towards that line of thinking. That’s just basic psychology

Yep. And once that person isn't taken where the projection was is when teams then have to adjust.

I mean we saw it with Guice last year. Never heard a lick about any character concerns about him his entire career in college, quite the opposite actually. Then a couple weeks before the draft, we start hearing about these possible off the field issues, yet he was one of the most liked and personable players on the team. The fans love him, he played hard, was a good team mate, had never been in trouble, etc. But the chirping continued and he fell way lower than what people expected just a few weeks prior. I don't think the media dictates the draft, but I do agree that they can have an effect.
