The SC poster above probably hit it on the head. A generic, black and white rule was put in for situations like causing real danger and threats to the public with a "fake" gun. But just as with most rules, we need to apply a little common sense.
YES these guys deserve some kind of punishment, but most surely not a felony charge.
Yeah that is the problem with zero tolerance rules. Sometimes they get applied where not needed.
I'm sure some politican thought saying having any type of gun (even a toy one) on campus was worth a felony due to being worried people might get scared and not know it wasn't real. However, if the law is there the police have to follow it and let the DA sort it out. And it sounds like the DA is sorting it out and charges will be reduced to something more appropriate and the system will have worked properly.
That being said, shooting a BB gun inside your dorm room is really just stupid.

No real meaning behind it. You know how some people say, "lemme get a hold of/bend your ear," in the context meaning 'I have something to say to you.' Basically it's along those lines. Although, I could also see how some people interpret it literally.

I gotta tell you though.....20 page incident report?
They must go into some pretty in depth detail with those things!
No doubt, they had cops counting the number of 'bb dents' in kitchens, halls and elevators. How many bb dents would also resemble a mark left by someone stabbing a pen into a wall, cabinet, etc...and how do they tell the difference? Those cops probably were pissed that they had to fill out that much paperwork for this.

I was talking about your question to that dickintheear guy.
That's what the popcorn was for.
You're going to be disappointed when you read my response above, but you're probably use to disappointment.

OK Smart learns quickly and has his bid in for the Fulmer Cup.
I think Athens PD and Gainesville PD must train at same school for sheriff academy dropouts? The GPD used to be really bad and I think after we won a couple of Fulmer Cups and awarded the police staff there a silver medal for bravery and strict compliance over and above common sense.
Since then they have improved...a little.

Makes perfect sense to me, now! Thanks for responding. I've been curious about that for awhile!
