Two and a half years in, how does AU like having Bruce Pearl at the helm?

This has been his best year by far, but by the way Auburn's faithful were talking when the hire went down, his .459 Winning percentage has to be a disappointment

Why would it be a disappointment? A lot of their fans realize he inherited a dumpster fire and wasn't going to win immediately.

I'm not excited about the pace

But I'm definitely not grumbling about Bruce

If he can't win here, who can? Just have to wait and see

He hasn't won half his games.

Auburns fans thought they were going to the sweet sixteen when he was hired. Hey, at least his wife is hot

Just shows how bad our program was before him.

AU had the worse program in College Basketball prior to Pearl. He should be the 2nd highest paid coach in the SEC.

He's doing just fine. Wish we were an NCAA team already, but it will certainly be one next year.

He has Auburn beating LSU like drum year in and year out so, not so bad. We also beat Kentucky as well. Dont think many SEC teams can say that

Absolutely nobody thought we'd be going to the postseason right away. Everybody knew it'd take a few years. You're full of shite.

Last year was worse than expected but our roster got raped by the injury bug and our best player was kicked off the team mid-season.

Other than that and about 2 more games we should've won this season, we are right on track.

He's certainly got us on a better trajectory than any other realistic hire could have had us on, so there's really not much to be upset about. Sorry you're mad about the 20 point loss Bruce handed Avery the other day.

Well that's not true at all, although we had an incredibly bad 10 years before Pearl was hired.

Northwestern has never even made the NCAA tournament once. They also haven't had a winning record in conference since 1968 and have only finished .500 in conference once since then. Although they have a good shot to change all that this season.

Agree with the OP but there are two things to consider. Historically, Auburn besides maybe USCe, Ole Miss, and Georgia arguably has the worst basketball history in the SEC. Second, Pearl is building an impressive roster. With the emergence of the stud freshmen post player whose name escapes me, they are going to make a run this year at a possible #1 seed in the NIT and maybe sneak in the Big Dance if they get really hot. Regardless of this year, they should be really good next year...at least an NCAA tournament team in my opinion.

The post Ellis Era was a disaster. AU was the worse program, playing in the worse arena in the SEC. Both have changed.

They have a deep, talented and young roster and are 13-6 and 3-4 in the SEC. They have more studs coming in next year and the year after. They didn't have Wiley early and now with him their offense adds another option with his post presence.

Why would it be a disappointment? I'd be ecstatic if I were them.

Austin Wiley

And we won't make the dance this year. But if we keep improving a high NIT seed is very realistic. If we beat BC like we should have and hadn't been stone cold to start SEC play and pulled out one of those first 3 games we could be 15-4 and in good position to get on the bubble. Considering we return 4/5 starters next year (all 4 are freshmen this year), 3/4 of our top bench players, and already have 2 top 50 players signed, things are looking very good for the future and for next season the big dance should be a realistic expectation.

You are a troll or you have no knowledge of our program

I have not met ONE Auburn fan who does not love BP and the job he has done.

His first year, he was hired late and could not contact recruits.

Injuries hit us hard last year. IiRC we had a PF playing PG for like the final 5 games.

We start 4 freshman and at timesome play 5 freshman together this year.

It's frustrating at times because you want to win now but you see the foundation being laid.

Someone can correct me but I belive we have or had the top ranked recruiting class for '18 so far

Auburn basketball is going to be consistently better than it has ever been under Pearl. Building a small but very nice new arena and taking a chance on Pearl when so many other ADs were scared to touch him will in hindsight end up being by far the best thing Jay Jacobs does/did as Auburn AD (honorable mention to the softball hire). I think Pearl is going to do VERY well
