Coming down from Nashville for the Arky game:

Is this drive a nightmare post game? Tusca hotels look like shite with little availability for the Arky game.

Would I be making a huge mistake if the game was a 6pmer and trying to stay in Bham that night?

Just don't expect to get back to your hotel in B'ham before 2-3AM.

Typically one hour drive but traffic isn’t too bad on I20 as long as there aren’t any wrecks after the game

The drive itself isn't bad. The traffic leaving Tuscaloosa is awful.

It's pretty bad for a night game, but most of it is just trying to get from the campus area to the interstate. Interstate is usually moving okay, just a little slow. For a 6 kick, expect to get back to Bham around midnight to 1 in the morning. That's leaving the stadium and heading straight to the car and leaving.

It's not as bad anymore since they widened the interstate as long as you don't go the straight forward route out of town.

Come back on here closer to game time and folks will give you some backways out and where to park.

Does it get lighter if we were to take is slow, grab food or drinks after the game and then get on the road?

Understand its going to be a late night, just want to avoid parking lots.

We stay at the in laws in Birmingham for every home game. Many others do the same.

It does around campus, but can still be bad around the interstate on ramps. That is what we usually do, and I can get to the interstate pretty quickly because I grew up there and know all the backroads.

Its all about where you park (Which side of the stadium). It can take a while or it can be quick.

For a peaceful nights sleep I highly recommend the Super 8 in Bessemer.

Yep, and where you park dictates which way they'll send you towards the interstate.

In 2011 after the LSU game…we got back to the hotel around 3:00. I believe that was a 7:00 kickoff.

A lot of it depends on where you park. I haven't been to a game in T-town in a few years, but we always parked in the lot where my dad's neighbor had a spot for her RV. No chance of getting out of there quickly, so we'd fire up the grill, turn on the TV they had mounted outside, watch the night games, and after an hour or so, just drive right out. This was right next to the stadium, near the old Tutwiler dorms.

When we went another time for a 2:30 game, we parked somewhere else and took a shuttle to campus. The shuttle back was actually pretty quick, the officers directing traffic would stop the line of cars to let them through intersections, and we took maybe 30-40 minutes after the game to get back to where we were parked.

Count on 2 hours back to BHM, and if it comes in under that you'll be happy.

Stay off McFarland at all costs. If you can use 359 into downtown and park west of the stadium. Take 359 back out of town and the interstate to and from Birmingham is 6 lanes the whole way so not much of an issue anymore. The construction has ended

That could lead to a permanent sleep.
