When did Miss State install turf in the batters box? Kind of bush league IMO. I’d expect that from Missouri but not from Miss State.

The current amount was done about 4 years ago at the Carnegie Hall of college baseball but we had a smaller amount around home plate and foul lines probably for 10 years. It makes maintenance much quicker and you don't get the ugly paths towards the end of the season. Anyone taking shots at Dudy Noble Field now is just plain trolling.

Another idiot "LSU baseball fan." Little does he realize LSU put turf on the warning tracks and foul areas a few years ago.

Actually it's a smart move that has been done for a few years. High schools down here are starting to do it as well. Way less maintenance and makes the field faster to recover from heavy rain. Reduces rainouts.

Few keep up with college baseball here so they don't really understand what's going on. We have always had an excellent drainage system at Dudy Noble so we could play games that would otherwise get rained out at most facilities. Good news/bad news. We got to play games but the high traffic areas took a beating. The turf helps with that a lot. Dudy Noble has been called the Carnegie Hall of college baseball for years. Don't understand all of the down votes. Oh well.....

I’m not knocking the turf down the foul lines. I think it’s smart because those areas flood the most and aren’t covered by the tarp plus you get the black pellet bounce on balls that drop close to the foul line so its easier to call fair/foul. I just think the batters box needs to be dirt. Especially at the “Carnegie Hall” of college baseball.

Turf to grass transition is one thing. I would think turf to dirt transition would be dangerous with cleats getting caught from turf to dirt or dirt to turf.

If you have ever watched them prepare the field after BP and such, it takes very little time to get home plate ready. Essentially clean up a bit and paint home plate. Don't have to do all the raking and sweeping and laying down the template for the lime that lasts about half an inning. I don't have a problem with it and sat right behind home plate for years.

LSU has turf in foul territory all the way down the lines and behind home plate. The home plate area is all dirt. It looks great, does fine, and blends in.

LOL ... I gotta admit, I was thinking the same thing when I read it.

No doubt this will lead to someone going for three ... and they'll probably do a shitty job trying unfortunately.

I would need to google the name of your field because OM baseball is not very memorable in general.

No, Bush league is closing in your football stadium with aluminum bleachers and calling it an expansion!

Why google something that's not very memorable in the first place like MSU baseball?
