“Even throughout my football season, I wasn’t the starter,” Tagovailoa said, according to the report. “I wanted to leave the school. So I told myself if I didn’t play in the last game, which was the national championship game, I would transfer out. If I gave in, I don’t think I would have seen the end blessing of where I am now.”

quote:

“I called my dad and asked him if my offer to the University of Southern California was still available,” Tagovailoa said. “I wanted to leave. I told my dad I wanted to go to a school where I thought it’d be easier for me and wouldn’t challenge me so much.”

If he didn’t want the challenge he should have gone to AUBURN.

If i were a qb who was much better than the starter and getting no chance as the starter continues to cripple the offense, I'd leave. Only a pussy would stick around through that b.s.

And transfer in behind the quarterback that picked you apart? That makes sense. You definitely thought that one through.

Dude played 1 half of football and has been anointed as the best returning QB in the nation by 85% of the media

I’m not sure it gets much easier than playing QB at Bama.

Well, yes the discipline and work ethic required is demanding @ UA. That's why they are consistently good and have so many kids graduate early and go on to the NFL. But that is explained to them before they sign and explained in detail to their parents. Who mostly desire their child work and perform @ a high level. Which explains why the mom and dad didn't give in and let him quit on himself. Since the next time it would be even easier until he quit himself right on out.

You can tell the parents were on board as they then let and likely encouraged the younger brother, also a QB, to commit to the Tide. The coaches tell the parents upfront that most players are going to try and quit. CFB everywhere is a tough business if you win and develop the players for a future in sports or get them graduated. And most players are going to try and leave.

I mean, normally I’d agree with you, but he’s already proven he can do some very impressive things in tough situations.

If Saban f's around and settles on Hurts for whatever unGodly reason there could ever be, Tagovailoa is gone, and I would not blame him one iota. He's so far and away better than Jalen Hurts it's ridiculous, yet Saban keeps playing this undecided b.s.

Yeah. No way Alabama could ever win in Tiger Stadium.

Why should he play it any other way? Tua was injured for the entire spring and has limited game reps compared to Hurts. Then there’s the whole QB depth issue. You’d think people would stop second guessing Saban at this point. But I guess y’all know better.

Nah, we didn't need him to beat bama.

It's been clear for awhile but Tua's most recent comments just further illustrate that whomever loses the QB battle this fall is going to transfer. The smart move the Tagovailoas made was having Taulia commit because now it's 2 v. 1.

Winning the NC just ruined Alabama's 2018 season. Now both QBs have a national title under their belts so they have no reason to hang around. Very shortsighted of Saban, letting Bama win that game.
