Tua was protecting his right ankle when he fell on his knee

Watch the video and you will see that Tua put no weight on his right ankle when he was going down. No one was at fault but the ankle injury was definitely a factor.
Like everyone else, I'm hoping Tua recovers completely and enjoys a great pro career.

When you play hurt your chances of hurting something else go up. Alabama fans were trying to act like it was completely unrelated to the ankle injury and Lord Saban wouldn't have known this could happen.
Muh the doctors cleared him

I had someone at the bar Saturday night trying to convince me that the ankle injury factored in somehow to the hip injury.
I mean, I kinda see where it would change his gait, etc. but there's no way to know for certain that if Tua hadn't injured his ankle that he also wouldn't have ended up with the hip injury.
At this point, I don't know what difference it makes. The kid wanted to play. I assume the doctors cleared him to play. He played. It happened.

Here's the conversation before the LSU BAMA game---
Saban: "Ok Doc, Tua is good to go, riiiighttt?
Doc: " Uuuhhhh, sure Coach Saban"

The only difference I could see is if he was a step or two faster without the ankle injury, he might have outrun those defenders. We'll never know.

Anybody who does not think he was favoring that ankle and thereby making choices as a result of it is stupid and that includes saban
His ankle is the reason he fell like he did
Hope he successfully recovers

Some coaches aren't pussies and let their players
play, Kirby almost cost y'all the game by protecting
Jake.

The mental gymnastics tRant is engaging in to somehow blame an injury on Saban is next level stupidity.

It is time to state the truth plainly and clearly. Saban exercised poor judgment on Saturday. It is indisputable that Tua's ankle injury and especially his recent surgery placed him at an increased risk of injury. In this case, his mobility was compromised and his gait was off and created greater risk when under physical stress. Saban appropriately took Tua out when it was 35-7. If there was no increased risk then why take Tua out? Again, the increased risk of injury is indisputable. Next, the game was won. But Saban was trying to impress the committee. I do not care what he says. It was his job as a coach to make the correct decision here. Tua will always want to play but it was Saban's job to say no. To say "No Tua, the game is won and you need to heal." But Saban could not bring himself to do the right thing because he cared more about style points. And since that appalling decision everyone is rushing to Lord Saban's defense to say he was not at fault. If this was any other coach he would have been fried by the media by now, but not Lord Saban. There really is no other conclusion and no one will convince me otherwise---it is so obvious.

Oh, we know , Baw. Those defenders are over 300 lbs. and run about a 5.2. They caught a 4.5 kid from behind.

Of course. Anybody who has injured their back, hip, knee, or ankle know how they all work together. When any one of those is injured you do things differently. You don’t run the same, You don’t jump the same, you don’t fall the same. That puts you at risk for injuring the others.

Did anyone watch the NBA Finals? Specifically Game 5? Kevin Durant comes back from a calf injury premature. Plays spectacularly. Then tears his Achilles. Anyone who thinks the Achilles injury was unrelated to the calf injury is just plain dumb.
Tua came back too soon. Shouldn’t have played against LSU. Definitely should have sat out vs MS State. It was a game time decision to play him.
I know hind site is 20/20, but he should not have been put in that situation to further injure himself.
