I’m going to go on record and say that Bama will field the best team in their history next year. We will have the best defense in the country and two completely different offenses that we can utilize to keep the other team off-balance. Imagine Tua facing a secondary next year that shuts him down and then we throw in Jalen. Or Jalen as 3rd down/red zone option with his feet. Bama is already a nightmare to prepare for, what will a dc do now? Jalen is a “ride or die” Bama player as well; the only person that might convince him to leave is Kiffin (bromance). I’m convinced that we are going to change the game next year and have a methodical 2 qb system (not switch up when they suck). What’s even scarier is that I really believe that Saban sold that to Tua when recruiting. I said last night after Jalen over threw the end zone pass in the first that Tua will play. It’s been his plan all along. GOAT. Roll Tide World Wide.

Speaking of Kiffin, did you see where he apparently said that Tua was leaving Bama if they hadn't played him last night?

ETA:

quote:

“I think that’s a great question,” Kiffin said on the future of Jalen Hurts at Alabama. “If this second half doesn’t flip like this, and Alabama is moving the ball and doesn’t change [quarterbacks], people that really know what’s going on would tell you that Tua was leaving. Because Tua thought that he should be the starting quarterback and had outperformed him in practice and Coach never gave him an opportunity.

“How this second half played out changes college football, because Tua is going to be one of the best quarterbacks in college football.”

Patrick cut Kiffin off as he started gushing about Tagovailoa with comparisons to Steve Young, making sure to clarify that he meant Tagovailoa would have transferred from Alabama had he not played in the national title game.

“No doubt.”

I haven’t, but that would support his cause to convince Jalen to come to FAU.

Was Tua getting any 1st team snaps during the season/bowl prep?

Curious.

From my understanding, Tua has been receiving first team reps since the spring. I don’t know specifically about last week.

Lol. Tua is going to be the starter and Jalen will ride the bench.

That is consensus opinion. Personally, I think otherwise.

Yep - Jalen was sick a few days and Tua stepped in.

I have seen reports today that Jalen was starting but the staff made it clear the hook would come quick if he was not performing. Have to give it to CNS and his staff. They had a wrinkle (Tua) that no one (and I mean no one) thought they would use.

so, when jalen comes in, the qb will run, and when tua comes in, the qb will throw? imo, your theory of two offenses ain’t happening.

Anyone trying to move Hurts to OLB yet?

They had wrinkles (plural) - UGA coaches were not prepared for TrueFrosh QB/RB/LT/C/2 WRs last night. Those young guys stepped up and did their job.

They have been a tandem all year, even if the playing time was lopsided. I went to Alabama and have been a fan my whole life. I have never been more excited about an upcoming season due to these two guys.

Haha absolutely not. Jalen plays his game, Tua plays his. Two completely different styles. I firmly believe Tua will be the starter, but we will have two offensive schemes that we will use in a game plan and not “oh shite” moments like last night,

Off the top of your head, how many designed 2 QB systems have had enormous success? While I can see using Hurts situationally, he'd probably be best served converting to a completely different position (and possibly do returns while he learns) and maybe bringing him in for the occasional wildcat. After Tua's scramble last night, I had to check and he's a dual-threat too, so, while Hurts might be a better scrambler, he's not bringing a skill to the table that Tua doesn't already have.

I agree, but I think this was part of the gameplan (aside from injury).
