Have these things started to ruin college football?

Remains to be seen. They have changed it for sure. The sport may or may not adapt or those things may kill it.

The only thing that may get killed from all this is the NCAA. And good riddance there. The farce that the NCAA has been getting away with for a very long time; that big-time college football is an amateur sport, is over.

The NCAA had a monopoly on their talent and these kids were barred from even hiring legal representation. The coaches, Athletic department, Universities, stadiums, vendors, sellers of merchandise, Sports media, etc, all are part of the free market that they were barring the actual talent from having access to.

Freedom smells like popcorn. Wait a minute, that's my microwave, get back to y'all later.

If we can get rid of the NCAA, that might could lead to a situation where we just sign these athletes to contracts just like they do in the pros. That's really the only thing that would solve the issue of the transfer portal, opt outs, etc

The unrestricted transfer portal is. I dont have a problem under certain circumstances where a player can transfer without waiting but... Mixed with NIL this has already become unrestricted free agency.

NIL is basically all the shady shite that was already happening but in the daylight.

Like most things in this country, it's more of the rich getting richer.

In the end, the answer is college football is on borrowed time for a number of reasons, these included.

The NCAA is making itself useless. This feeling that the Universities can do better is coming soon to a power 5 conference near you.

True and False

I think the transfer portal is great. Always thought it was ridiculous to make players sit out a year.

NIL is long over due, but there needs to be a realistic CAP. If not, it’s just free agency to the highest bidder and that's not good for parity in college football.

The portal is great for a team but it’s hurt some high school recruits who are having to wait on the portal to see if they’ll have a spot on a team.

It's gonna make it even more difficult for the "have not's"

Ultimately, I see CFB being a legitimate 20-30 teams or "big boys"

Yes and no, too much of anything is bad.

I feel like in the blink of an eye, we’ve gone from authoritarian rule to the wild wild West.

I think, for the health of the sport, the best answer lies in the middle somewhere. But good luck getting everyone to agree on what that looks like.

Good luck getting the NCAA to agree on that. The only thing worse than bad instructions is NO instructions. The NCAA has left college football wanting.

Nike is officially getting involved in the NIL game, and the first athlete to benefit from a partnership with the Swoosh is UCLA women’s soccer player Reilyn Turner.

So if Nike is doing this, shouldn't they be partnering with all schools that wear their gear
If not, schools will start negotiating with whatever apparel company gives their student athletes the most NIL money

What ruined college football is when the NCAA turned a blind eye to Nick Saban and the blatant cheating that occured from 2007-2012

What's hilarious is all of the FBi investigations over shoe companies and recruits, only for the exact thing probably being commonplace going forward and completely permissible

AAU kids are going to start signing shoe deals in high school and that will inherently narrow down what schools they can commit to
