Because it's dumb to prop up teams in your own state.
Already got forced to do it with Auburn who wouldn't be shite otherwise.
I guess we can drop Bama in Basketball and play UAB twice a year.

It would help RPI... considering bama is also under investigation by the ncaa again for more violations

Certainly LSU wants no part of Troy again lol

Next time we're very publicly looking for someone to play us, they should come calling.

Yeah, I am also sure they are laughing that Alabama won half of the NC in the last 10 years....

Bama's schedule is extremely boring and everybody knows it. Hell they just implemented a "loyalty points" app to get people to stay past halftime.

You guys are morons. Saban has been very clear that he wants to play POWER 5 teams exclusively. That’s why it’s hard. What POWER 5 conference is Troy in? Or Army? Or any of these other teams people keep dragging up thinking they are disproving Saban, while just bolstering his stance?

You (AUBURN) have got far more in common culturally, educationally, regionally and as a program than does The University of Alabama.
Dude, admit it. You graduated from somewhere like the University of South Alabama. You never once attended a class on the Tuscaloosa campus. So... what the hell do you know about what Bama does not have in common culturally or academically with Troy. Troy was a national power before moving up to D1 20 years ago - so there’s that. Maybe they have 47 championships too.

I haven’t read through your thread yet OP so if this has already been mentioned my bad but I’d rather see that money stay in the state and go to Troy then it go out of state. So yea, I’m on board with it.

Always wondered why awbarn-Montgomery (AUM) doesn't have a football program.
You'd think as much as barners love UAB they'd want a program that would eventually become FBS at AUM.
There is already a stadium in Montgomery they could use.

All the LSU/Troy jokes on this board.
And it is extremely obvious that Bama and Auburn are afraid to play Troy.
They never have. Never is a long time.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bama playing Troy or UAB in the near future but Bama has got home and home starting soon with major P5 schools. And if the 9 game SEC game is finally approved it wont have a problem filling the last 2 games they need. S. Miss could be a 10 year contract then that leaves us just one.

Checks out and supports Saban's point that scheduling power 5 teams is difficult. Troy is a good Sunbelt Team, and the Sunbelt has occasionally knocked off some SEC teams. But, adding them is no different than adding any handful of other Group of 5 opponents. It would still be considered a cupcake game.

Troy is a better football team than many Power 5 teams, so the whole Group of 5 argument is dumb.

That is what he would like? But that would only happen if every other Power 5 league does it. So in reality it is not going to happen. So given the current structure of CFB, what is the best option of OOC games. LSU has done lots of these neutral site deals, as has Bama. Personally, I would rather do what LSU did in the last 10 years or so, play Washington in Seattle (2009) and have them come here (2012). Play West Virginia on campus (2010) and then play there (2011). The Wisconsin deal was neat, LSU played them in Dallas in 2014 and Lambeau in 2016, but personally I would rather seen LSU go to Madison and Camp Randle (I think LSU did that back in the 1970's). The Texas home and home is a good one, with Texas coming to Baton Rouge next year.
But what do you do with the other 3 OOC games in the current structure of CFB, LSU, and not saying everyone has to follow LSU's model, is to always play at least 1 in-state non Power 5 team. As I said before last year it was LA Tech and SE LA, this year it is NW LA, next year either ULM or ULL (need to check). There are advantages to playing those games. 1) LSU does not have pay a team to travel across the country 1.7 million, so basic economics it makes sense and 2) People from those schools, some support LSU as well, come to the game, so it kind of helps attendance.
I don't think many New Mexico State people came to Tuscaloosa. I doubt next month many Utah State people will come to Baton Rouge, although Utah State is a solid Non Power 5 team, not sure they are going to travel down here.
