I think this is kind of what Saban meant by the word "nobody." Troy is a nobody, and nobodies want to play Alabama to get a paycheck and perhaps impress recruits by keeping it close for a quarter.

Saban wants to play Top 5 teams.

To be fair though, I'd rather see Bama play Troy or South Alabama instead of New Mexico State.

Auburn, unlike Bama, is not afraid to play other instate schools.

Auburn isn't scared to play 1AA instate schools - Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Jacksonville State and Samford

Auburn hasn't ever played Troy or South Alabama and only played UAB one time, in 1996 - in their very first game ever as a D1A program.

So, yes, you appear to be scared.

It would also boost attendance numbers being an in-state team.

Jimmy Dog you really should get out more often. Just so you know, Tuscaloosa's most vibrant and largest economic activities are related to the "industries of poverty". In other words, Pawn shops, Payday Loan offices, Cash for Title, Check Cashing, Bad Credit Used Automobiles lots, Tatoo Parlors, ad nauseam. Would never want to visit Tuscaloosa again much less live there. I sincerely feel sorry for those stuck there. Heaven help them..... Plus being associted with bama fans is punishment enough.

My mistake. You are correct. USA beat Troy, who beat LSU, who beat Auburn, who beat Alabama.

In 1996 in their first ever game as a D1A program - coming off a season in which they lost to Alabama State and Jacksonville State, ending the year with wins over Miles College and Knoxville College. Congrats?

Never played Troy. Never played South Alabama.

Do you seriously want pats on the back for playing 1AA programs?

NMS is ranked 130 out of 130 teams. Duke is 93rd. The quality of the opponent could get much worse.

So Alabama and Auburn are both scared of in-state Alabama Divsion 1A programs then I guess. Alright then, if that's the logic Auburn wants to roll with.

Rankings this time of year are based on projections and off-season media beliefs. They are created for people who are fools and like to lose money on gambling (hmmmmm, where have I heard that before?).

Auburn is much more charitable to the in-state teams, they've played Alabama State & Ala A&M as well. Good on Auburn.

They even let them get more experience by occasionally letting a game go to overtime.

An example to us all.....
