The two comparable QB matchups were Tua vs Burrow and Weurffel vs Manning, but those pairs have the disadvantage of being in the same division and not meeting in a championship setting.

With any luck we could potentially see Trask and Mac duel in 2 Championship games this year

I thought McElroy vs. Tebow was numero uno as far as titanic QB rivalries go.

McElroy was not more than an above average QB though

Yet, he looked all-world in that game. All-world enough to go to the BCS NCG while Tebow got a Sugar Bowl. Made Tebow cry for our sins. Not too shabby either way I guess. Tebow's a good man though.

That Mac was 1-0 vs. Timmy T.

He really didn't, but Bama's D holding Tebow to nothing was something to see

I think you missed the point. McElroy was the consolation prize in the 2006 recruiting class after Alabama couldn’t beat out Florida for Tebow. McElroy got the last laugh, defeating Florida and Tebow in the 2009 SEC championship.

Had 294 yards and 2 TDs if I remember correctly.

Tightroped like a motherfricker for a crucial first down, too.

I believe Mac was committed to Leach and Texas Tech until Bama won their Cotton Bowl game, he flipped to us after that game.

Well that's a pretty dumb point. Sure, McElroy beat Tebow, but do you think Tebow would've traded his career and Florida for McElroy's?

I don't know what you're on about but for 2009 he did very well. He made all the throws he needed to make, put the ball in the playmakers' hands and even did some tightrope hopping to secure a critical first down.

But you're right about the D. They made Tebow play QB (and not RB) and he got exposed big time.

You’re probably young, but Pat Sullivan vs Archie Manning was pretty epic back in the day. 60’s had some stellar SEC QB’s.

Good one, still don't think this compares to the probably #1 and #2 finish in the Heisman as well as competition in the SECCG
