UGA. Bad for athletes overall since many won't get developed, IMO. The big time teams will have first stringer's then freshmen backups.

Did something change again? Did instant transfer for undergraduates pass?
If so, it's bad for CFB imho.
If you mean the way it is where you have to sit out a year, can enter the portal ..... and if you are a graduate you can play immediately, then yeah, it's definitely good for the game and the players imho.
Now, if they were to allow instant transfer for undergrads only in cases where the HC was fired .... then yeah, that might be something to look at.

IMO good since it will increase competitiveness and help damn good X and O coaches. Maybe Cochran saw he handwriting on the wall for major emphasis on development over a 3 or 4 yer period. Some 6'6 260 LB OL who need work maybe will get left out. JMO. We'll see.

Actually according to USA Today it's more radical. All athlete's get a one time, instant eligibility pass to transfer and play immediately.

Bad for athletes

We'll see how it works. 2 of those three did what they had to do to transfer and gain immediate eligibility (graduate) and the other Fields got eligible because of some racial fan activity @ UGA. Now it's wide open. After spring practice the recruiting off other rosters will be wide open when guys didn't win a spot. Teams will need staff keeping up with other rosters and guys who don't fit or need more work to gain a first team role.

Not sure full details are out, but how will they deal with this. Is it like recruiting so the good schools can recruit sophomores at other schools then the kid can transfer with no restrictions?
That seems bad

Zach Evans just entered the transfer portal

It wont hurt the big teams, it will hurt the mid-tier and smaller teams and the consolidation of power into a very few hands will continue. Bad for the sport. Very bad. They are killing the golden goose. Interest in every area is down except the Southeastern US. CFB will become even more a regional sport

Until someone transfers once. And then cries about having to sit out to transfer again. And then even that rule will change to unlimited transfers.
I give it 5 years.

UGA just snagged a Wake Forest QB. Could go the opposite way. The stars leave the smaller schools and the smaller schools are seen as developmental.

Totally agree.
Coaches recruit a player and spend months, if not years, doing so.
Same coaches train a player, escort him through the transition from HS to college. Teach the player how to manage his time. Put the player on the training table, building up muscle and stamina, making sure the player goes to class. Possibly even burning a roster spot for the player to give him time to mature and develop.
Then BAM!!!! Right when said player is ready to contribute someone approaches him under the table and says, "transfer to Bama or Ohio State or Michigan or wherever" .... and all that investment is out then window in the blink of an eye.
It's a bad bad bad new rule if it passes and, if it does pass, University Presidents should meet with the NCAA and make no bones about disbanding the NCAA if they push this sort of bullshite on the entire association.
