It’s not even being considered in my opinion, all that’s been verified is it someone in Austin picked up the phone and left a message at the SEC offices, that is all that is happened to this point

Only time will tell.

And honestly, I get the A&M hesitancy about the longhorns, but y'all are in a different place with the SEC. Even if they did get in, they would not have the same pull they had in your old conference.

Like I said in another thread, I appreciate the trolling of A&M in all this. All fun stuff.

In all seriousness, though, Texas is a horrible fit for this conference. They are sometimes called the “Berkeley of Texas Schools”, and they actually like it.

Think about that.

I wouldn’t mind adding OU and while the Aggie melt is fun to watch, I really don’t want Texas in the SEC. They already poisoned 2 others conferences and have shown they aren’t afraid to stab their partners in the back. They also think they are something when they aren’t, and their arrogance will be hard to tolerate. Plus their fans would flood the board with no knowledge of SEC history and how things go in the SEC. They need to realize they won’t be the big dog anymore, but instead 6th or 7th on the totem pole and I don’t think UT fans can comprehend that.

I really don't care if Texas and OU join the conference. Don't know what you'd be scared about.

I don't want Texas.

I do want Oklahoma. They would be a great fit in the SEC, IMO.

And I know I've read in the past that Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are package deals because of politics, and I'd be fine with that.

B/c the school's athletics has brought multiple national championships, mens and womens Final Fours, CWS appearances, and multiple football bowl wins to the SEC in the 2010s?

Not really a fan of either team, but this is a more acceptable option.

We are playing Texas this year, we aren't scared to play them this year, or every year if they join.

THIS! Texas has already ruined their current conference. Their brand is in decline and has been for years. The "big money" they have are from boosters and alumni- which is in house. They don't share well.

I am a firm NO.

Then, allow me to let you in on a little secret on how to talk to someone.

Instead of replying with "how is USC relevant", you reply with "I am not scared of Texas in the least bit. I hate their destructive ways and we do not need them in tSEC to be a better conference. They bring nothing to the table."

See how easy that is? Because then you'd be on subject, the conversation/debate can move forward, and you don't look like an idiot using the achievements of other people to make yourself seem superior.

This is what you folks don't understand. Texas doesn't work that way. They will start from Day 1 with a pocket vote in OU who is their lackey. They have literally more money than the entire SEC (outside of A&M) COMBINED AND DOUBLED. They have immense power with ESPN and the MSM. They have immense power within the NCAA. Either you bend to them or they will attack you in ways you can't imagine because you foolishly think this is about football games and that Texas will just be happy to be a member of the SEC.

Texas doesn't view anyone as their equal. They don't think normal rules apply to them. They will find your weak spots and go after you. People forget that when the Big 12 formed you had 8 teams from the Big 8 and 4 from the SWC and Nebraska was by far the best football program. How did that work out? They destroyed NU through new regulations on recruiting and then got them kicked out of the AAU, they threatened the same of KU and ISU if they didn't stay in line.

In the SWC as soon as Texas started to go through a slump they got SMU on probation and then the death penalty, got A&M on probation twice from investigations by sip reporters at the Dallas Morning News and with a Texas Law prof in charge of the NCAA infractions committee.

You cannot control Texas you can only try to contain them and you are a fool if you think that winning some games in football recently gives you cover. Texas plays by a completely different rulebook.
