No disrespect to USC...but really? That card's not really in your deck.
None taken. But we took our arse whippings and constantly being talked down to (by teams who actually had a right to, unlike Mizzou or A&M) and patronized and being reminded that we were the doormat of the SEC for a very long time and we did it, for the majority, without complaining. There's the difference between us and y'all (y'all including both Mizzou and A&M)..we knew our place and we fought hard to earn what we have today. We did not just expect to be lovingly embraced by the SEC. So buckle in and try to enjoy the next 20 years bc it will be brutal.

USC joining in the pre-internet age probably did a lot for you.
If you'd have joined in today's internet world, I think you'd probably have come through really similarly to Mizzou.
We get a lot more shite, especially here on the rant than I'm sure you guys (y'all) did when the only shite you got was from a fat Tennessee fan in orange overalls talking about you not belonging.

As much as that photo supports our cultural fit in the SEC cause, it's been proven to be a photoshopped picture.
Nice though.

I think that if they would have an easier transition to the SEC since they fit in culturally. After all, the Civil War DID start in South Carolina. However Arkansas might have gotten some flack since they are more western than southern.

A&M, welcome and you fit right in. Missouri, thanks for giving us new tv markets without making our schedule any tougher in the sport that matters.

Oh good God..do they not sell razors in Missouri? They do here...I'll send it Mizzou's way after I slit my wrists with it bc this picture is now indelibly printed on my brain.

Listen, when we came into the league we had Paul Finebaum writing editorials and screaming on his radio show to have us kicked out of the league. The bastard even started a petition drive to have us kicked out of the league.
We had Mike Strange and Jimmy Hyams and some other prick, John somethingorother up in Knoxville ranting in their columns about kicking South Carolina out of the league and replacing us with Clemson.
So don't tell us we didn't catch tons of shite - tons more than you've ever though about catching on some little Internet board.
We were taking worse Public Relations beatings and butt rapings in the newspapers and on sports talk radio, by the media and fans alike, than the sheep up in Clemson are subjected to on Saturday nights. It was a nightmare.
This little bit of crap you people take on the SECr is a joke compared to that ... and Arkansas took just about as much as we did during some of those years.
It was brutal coming into the SEC back then. First expansion in sixty years ... you can say we paved the way for A&M and Mizzou. It is far more accepted now than it was back then. We could not drink out of the same water fountains, had to ride in the back of the buses ... and you did not want to be a Gamecock fan in Athens back in those days. It was unGodly.

A&M has every right to talk down to South Carolina. We are a better program by every imaginable metric.

Is this a rant?
Sounds like you needed to get that out.

If South Carolina had been any decent when they joined the SEC, they wouldn't have gotten as much flack. Clemson was the state football power at the time. It was the equivalent of the SEC taking Texas Tech in terms of state football powers. USC didn't even have a winning SEC record until 2000. No wonder you got shite for joining.

No shite, you're an Auburn fan. It's been all downhill since Cam left, and only getting worse.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Hmm... there's a joke about settling for the second-best program in a state there somewhere, but I just for the life of me cannot find it. Maybe the rest of you A&M cats can help a brother out.
Kidding aside, USC took their lumps and figured out how to compete. Now, we're demonstrably more valuable than our state's counterpart in every possible way, just as I expect A&M to be a better fit than Texas in the long run. I have no problem with A&M (despite the lack of cheerleaders, puffs) or Mizzou being in the conference.
