Both LSU and Auburn were heavily penalized teams. LSU 9 for 91 yds. Auburn 9 for 111 yds.

The difference in the game (besides Tracy's FG)? Interceptions. Auburn had 2 of them. End of story.

Aub had plenty of opportunities to put the game away (stop LSU on 4th and 7 - game over). Couldn't do it so now they have to blame the refs.

Is anyone seriously saying that after seeing the replays?

Like three Auburn guys leaped over the center and the line on the game-winning field goal attempt. They held in the secondary all game. Committed a bunch of penalties.

Auburn is just an undisciplined team that struggles to follow the rules.

Probably a reflection of Gus.

Nice, so the 2014 & 2016 Alabama-LSU games had nothing to do with the referees. Glad we could put that to bed.

2016
Alabama : 6 for 29 yards
LSU : 3 for 20 yards

2014
Alabama : 3 for 29 yards
LSU : 2 for 20 yards

Good to know - thanks for the heads up. Glad you guys are finally acknowledging it.

Goddamn dude. LSU and UGA fans have literally started about 50 threads about the AU game and penalties and AU fans have started like 1 or zero.

Give it a rest. Wtf is this reverse melt shite anyway?

These fricking threads need to be pinned for when Bama plays LSU.

LSU fans are something else, man.

It's just too perfect. They are literally using the same arguments they refute as being meaningless when they play us and blame the REC.

It's beautiful stuff.

That game has caused them to melt down in reverse. They have always been the most ridiculous fan base in football with penalties but this shite is just wierd.

An LSU fan preaching to anyone about whining over penalties is just wrong.

Y'all crazy-asses want the FBI involved after every Alabama game. So let it go and just watch quietly - it's like looking in a mirror

They're right you know.

The team and the fans deserve better from the coaches than to be giving away games due to poor technique in the defensive backfield. But then again, maybe the talent in the secondary Auburn coaches have to work with gives them no choice but to coach them to interfere. Better to give up PIs than TDs.

This is all pretty simple. Any casual, unbiased observer of that game and the SEC in general would conclude the following two things:

1) The game was called pretty evenly and fairly.

2) If the roles were 100% reversed and LSU lost that game (or one in the same fashion in BDS) they would absolutely, 100% be losing their goddamn minds not only currently, but also for years to come.

If the PI committed by Greedy Williams had been called you would have lost. If Greedy hadn't interfered Auburn would have one more TD.

BMY would be in here with 17 angles of the grab by Williams and analysis showing how if this penalty was called LSU would have won by 3 TDs instead of losing.

Let's just stop talking about it.

We beat them in every phase of the game, minus 9 yards of rushing.

The only fact that matters is, Auburn has blown two, 10+ point leads to Ed Orgeron in a row

Here is my take:

The passing interference call at the end of the game that really killed us was really questionable as to whether it was passing interference or not. However, there was enough contact that Auburn really can't complain about the call. That said, it seems like when there is a significant question about whether that was PI or not, the referee really should let the players decide the outcome on the field and not determine the outcome of the game.

BUT AGAIN - AUBURN has no reason to complain since there definitely was contact.

Also, had we played better (i.e. not throw two picks and stop you guys on 4th down) then that becomes a non-issue.
