It's amazing what can happen when you play by different rules.

Is that Bama celebrating. I didn't think so.

20 years and still going strong.
Posted on 2/18/22 at 6:24 pm to VandyWhistler
What position does he play?
Posted on 2/18/22 at 6:25 pm to Drewbie
Sorry, but Corbin is not breaking any rules.

Kentucky baseball is worse than Vandy football.

Not breaking... but having the ability to offer full private scholarships vs public schools being cap'd, is a different set of rules, and 100% and advantage. Still a great coach and career. The pitching y/y is nasty and the separating factor.

Nobody accused Corbin of breaking rules. We are simply pointing out he is good at utilizing loop hoops in rules that allows a private school like Vanderbilt to have an environment where they have more than 11.8 schollys.

When you have a budget that's fricking absurd, you'd better produce. He's on skates.

Now 803-377 with a 3-0 win over Ok St.

That poor bastard probably has whistlers in his dreams.

Someone explain how Vandy gets to have more scholarship type players? What in the world?!
Posted on 2/18/22 at 8:05 pm to BurgTiger
Them being a private school allows their financial aid endowment funds to cover the costs of more than 11.8 players a year on their roster. The Arkansas's and Tennessee's of the world get 11.8 baseball schollys to divy up, whereas Vandy can squeeze out about 25/30 scollys a year with their financial aid/private school endowment loop hole.

Any school is eligible to defray the rising costs of education like Vanderbilt does as long as they provide it across all students. Private or public. Virginia is a public university and offers similar aid.

Corbin wins on talent. Nothing more, nothing less.
He is smart enough to stay out of the way. That I'll give him. Corbin, with "Opportunity Vanderbilt" should have at least 8-10 CWS appearances and 4-5 titles. When all factors are equal Candy is average at best in any/every sport. Buying a team does not a great coach make. And STFU about academic requirements. Until Candy starts publishing test scores it's just BS. I personally know a middle Tennessee kid that scored only average and was signed by Candy.

Virginia as a public school must disclose and define "economic need" where as Candy being private does not. Do you really believe the baseball players signed by Candy need aide? Maybe to pay stupid tuition at Candy but not to cover tuition and Costas at the average SEC institution.
Corbin looks great because all other Candy teams SUCK.
