Not a good sign for O when the "Bible of LSU Sports" feels the need to dig up a 29 year old restraining order.
LINK
That is some awful curious logic they have there.
None of this is unknown so it's really only newsworthy that Tiger Rag chose to send this shot across the bow at O.
And Tiger Rag was happy to serve up for the committee!
And here's the chaser that lets you know Tiger Rag has gone full woke:
ETA: Apparently Jim Engster, President of Tiger Rag, has his own show on WRKF and also owns the Louisiana Radio Network. He and JBE apparently are tight. 1981 LSU grad.

Tiger Rag has obtained a copy of a 1992 restraining order imposed against current LSU head football Ed Orgeron when he was an assistant at the University of Miami.
The documents, included in this account of Orgeron’s history, are relevant in light of a widespread probe of LSU football pertaining to sexual misconduct dating to the tenure of Les Miles, who was coach from 2005-16.

None of this is unknown so it's really only newsworthy that Tiger Rag chose to send this shot across the bow at O.
quote:
Orgeron was a 30-year-old Miami assistant coach when a Florida woman persuaded a court to order him to stay away from her. He has acknowledged a substance abuse problem at a time when his career was advancing.
quote:
Orgeron’s personal life unraveled with a university employee seeking protection in court. She claimed Orgeron repeatedly attacked her. He was ordered to cease any contact with the petitioner and to undergo
treatment and counseling.
Two months after the restraining order ended, Orgeron was charged with second degree battery for his actions in a bar fight in Baton Rouge. He left Miami and did not return as a coach until 1994 as linebacker coach for Nicholls State.
quote:
The charges against him in 1992 would be a deal-breaker if Orgeron were applying for the LSU post in a contemporary environment of no tolerance for violence against women.
LSU officials must determine whether the coach is honest in his answers to questions about Gloria Scott and Derrius Guice. Orgeron has opted for a written statement rather than testify under oath.
If he reverses his intended course and testifies before the committee, he will likely be questioned about the 1992 restraining order, which has resided at the Dade County Courthouse for 30 years.
And Tiger Rag was happy to serve up for the committee!
And here's the chaser that lets you know Tiger Rag has gone full woke:
quote:
The chair of the Select Committee on Women and Children, Sen. Regina Barrow, appeared on “Talk Louisiana” Wednesday morning. The show airs on WRKF, 89.3 FM and at wrkf.org.
ETA: Apparently Jim Engster, President of Tiger Rag, has his own show on WRKF and also owns the Louisiana Radio Network. He and JBE apparently are tight. 1981 LSU grad.

I would focus less on complaining about an article and more on how you fix what appears to be an institutional problem. Especially with a head coach with this kind of track record.

What does reporting on Orgeron's past have to do with Communism again?

This baw is trying hard to make sure Tiger Rag readership shrivels up:
He's checking all the boxes.
quote:
The Public Relations Association of Louisiana named Engster Communicator of the Year in 2008.[9] The YWCA Greater Baton Rouge awarded him the Racial Justice Award in 2011 "for his advocacy of racial and social justice".[10] Engster is currently serving his sixth term as president of the Press Club of Baton Rouge and is also the president of the LSU Media Board
He's checking all the boxes.

It's okay to admit you voted for Biden.

Wonder why they didn't also point out that it had been rescinded later that year?

That reads like a long trolling thread on this board. It's an attention seeking "article."

Because they aren't lifetime documents. You have to go back in over and over if you want them extended. But big congrats on him eventually stopping his abusive behavior to that woman. He truly deserves commendation for this

The original order was a permanent injunction that was later rescinded.

Does that matter?

Not sure about FL, but protection orders only last a year here unless you petition the court to extend them, and to extend them you have to have good cause such as violating the protection order.

That's arse backwards. A protection order should remain in place indefinitely, The burden and expense of getting it rescinded should fall on the restrained party, not on the protected victim to extend the order.

Permanent probably doesn’t mean what you think it does. When you petition the court for a protection order, typically an ex parte temporary protection order is put in place until there is a hearing. A hearing is then required within 15 days of the temp order being entered. If the petition is granted, a “permanent” order is put into place, but “permanent” doesn’t necessarily mean forever. Looks like Orgeron motioned the court to dissolve the order after a year had passed and that motion was granted, likely as a matter of law.

Yeah, and what Tiger Rag published today confirms that O did what he was supposed to do in order to have it terminated in July 1992, a little over a year after the petition was initially filed in April 1991.
