Thoughts on the Legend of Urban Meyer

I have been thinking this for a while but never really said anything about it to the rant. After seeing the top 10 CFB Coaches according to Sporting News, I can hold my thoughts in no longer.
I do think that Meyer is a good/great college football coach. What he did at Florida was impressive to say the least. My thoughts are that most of his success at UF is due to Timmy Tebow. Tebow played 4 years there, 3 of which he was the full starter, and his freshman season he came in a was pivotal to there Championship victory.
Once Tebow left, he had the awkward leave of absence followed by a mediocre, at best, 7-5 season. After that he retires completely.
I will not speculate on his leave of absence or his retiring and how much Tebow leaving was a part of that....I will leave that to the rant.
Yes, Tebow was his player, his recruit, and he coached him...I agree. I just think that being thought of as the #1 coach in CFB is ridiculous. Top ten yes, I wouldn't have him in my top 5. I do think he will do well at Ohio, he will beat the Michigans and Michigan States regularly....but when he brings that weak shite to the bowl games against a superior SEC team I think our athletes prevail as usual.
I think he owes Tebow 1/3 of his salary every year because without him, he wouldn't have done what he did and wouldn't be earning what he is today.
That is all......I feel better already.
Oh and the same goes for Chizik and Cammy Newton.

Tebow would have gone to UF even if Beelzebub was coaching.

And yet Mike Shula somehow spent like 14hrs in Tebow's house one day...

I think the combination of Percy and Tebow was 30% of his success. The other 70% was split between the DC's (Strong and Robinson), OC Mullen and Meyer's motivation techniques. Once 90% of those percentages were taken away (DC's left, Mullen to MS, Tebow and Percy gone) he flopped and took off.
He can build a monster but he can also lose it very quickly like he did already.

Urban deserves credit for his success but ESPN basically overlooking the current problems at UF and his involvement in that is typical.

Urban Meyer is definitely a top 5 coach. He's a top 3 along with Saban and Miles. 2 titles in 5 years at Florida, an undefeated season at Utah. Other than those two, what coaches could you put ahead of him?

Any coach who didn't quit... twice.

No doubt he's a quitter when it gets tough.

Meh, it's his life. If he needed to take a year to refresh his batteries so be He's as good as there is in college and tripled your school's number of national championships.

Wildrebeltime might have been right.

I think Paterson and Peterson could have done the exact same thing at UF if they would've taken the job IMHO. I still think Spurrier is a hell of a coach. Outstanding college coaching career and has turned around SC to their best season in school history if Im not mistaken.
Houston Nutt??

You lost me with that one.

Results matter. You can argue what Patterson and Peterson "would" have done, and I think they're both outstanding coaches, but Meyer has achieved as much as anybody else in the game.

My thoughts are that when Mullens went to State, you saw the start of Myers decline at Fla.........Mullens was his OC for many years and help make Myers......
