I think that people should be able to put aside their team allegiances and discuss whether it's what is best for the game in an objective manner. Doesn't seem hard.

Has nothing to do with allegiances. It is what it is and for Omaha to build a new stadium, the NCAA had to make a commitment, which they did. It's going to be there for the next 25 years or so. They over did it with the bats when they changed them again. I think they will fix that. I think with will probably go with the minor league baseball in the near feature as well. LSU will get to play with RIF balls, though.

I thought it would be fun to bump this thread and revisit my post on the College World Series because I really have no interest in bantering with a bunch of juveniles. It just wouldn’t be much of a contest.

• State: Another hot team but I think they may have gone as far as they can go.
?- Check
• The SEC is not as dominant this year as most of us thought.
?- Check
• My pick to win it all, UCLA (check my earlier post) got by that all important 1st round.
? - Checkmate

It’s also fun to pick out a few posts to illustrate just how ignorant some can be. Here are a few examples.

You need more Beaudreax's Butt Paste

We have the favored bullpen in this tournament.
- MaroonNation

Being the “favored bullpen” apparently didn’t translate to wins. After that arse whipping, you probably bought a case of Beaudreax's Butt Paste.

They can't hit, and they're not winning 4 more games on errors.
- TxTiger82

Apparently UCLA can hit well enough.

A series in fricking April or whenever it was has jack shite to do with right now.

This is a real gem, but ignorant, response from NIH. It was in response to my point that Arkansas beat State in their series earlier in the year.

NIH was apparently incapable of seeing that UCLA and Arkansas were very similar teams except the Bruins were much better defensively.

Additionally the World Series is played on an enormous field which opens gaps and alleys in the outfield for “punch and Judy” hitters but I didn’t feel like explaining it to NIH at the time.

Still think that Arkansas / State series wasn’t a prelude to the UCLA series regardless of when it was played? Reading some of your posts you probably still can't see it. In short, it's all about matchups.

And perhaps the most idiotic resopnse to my post was by IT Dawg. I really don’t need to add anything more.

When LSU plays MS State for the whole salami, you going to be looking really stupid.

And FWIW, if the world series was played on a normal field with decent bats/balls, I believe LSU would have won it all. But, it wasn't.

This year, the CWS had probably top to bottom the best pitching I have seen in the 30 or so years that I have been watching the CWS. UCLA might have had the best ever through the entire tournament. I thought we might be able to out score them but we fell into the same trap the other teams did and they put us away. They were the better team. We made killer mistakes early in both games. Congrats to them. They deserved it. I suppose most people thought the games were boring. Incredible pitching has a way of doing that if you don't appreciate the talent on the mound. Yeah - the field is huge, the wind blows in, the bats are basically wooden but great pitching has a lot to do with what we witnessed. Anyone watch any of Vanderbilt's games this year? Was it boring or good pitching?

Great observations Diamondawg. And props to State. They made a strong run at the end and came up just short. They represented the SEC very well.
