Thoughts on Pete Golding?

Will he be the DC next year? Is he up to the task at Bama? Did Saban make another bad DC hire?

He seems in over his head

Draft departures and injuries have been a killer but they looked like a poorly coached unit. Poor fundamentals throughout, seems they routinely have issues getting lined up, a lot of busted coverages.

They should be better than what they are.


I think the constant revolving doors on coordinators especially caught up to Alabama here. Seems Saban made a hire here to have some type of continuity.

Too much too soon. Injuries haven't helped, but there's definitely some sloppiness to the defense.

Perfect world, he should have been just DB Coach. Don't think he would have left UTSA just for that, but less of a risk on Bama's part.

Saban is/was obsessed on stopping the amount of coaching turnover he has to deal with. Its gonna require identifying career assistants and "up and comers", and this specific one hasn't paid off.
