You've got it backwards. He's shown to be a good program builder. He needs to let someone else call the plays.

Pretty sure Sark is a head coach. Believe he is at Texas currently.

I’m in the camp that says if you build the teams with the best players, and consistently are near the finish line, you break through. Like Day (most likely), Kirby, and Swinney all demonstrated. With the same level of talent acquisition I would expect Sark to do the same.

Yeah, the coach ceiling narrative is just a myth IMO

Wow

A horn I actually agree with on here. Good thing is Sark is not going anywhere.

Sark is Lincoln Riley. Good enough to get you to the playoffs every now and then but never going to win the big one.

He made pretty much one bad offensive play call all game, and it’s not because he’s more of a HC than OC. He just made a stupid call. It’s not a monumental alteration of who he is. He’s made the final 4 for two years straight.

He walks up to Sark and says Steve let's go ahead put your cute little sheet away for this one. Put Arch in and run the sneak until I say different. Thanks Steve.
Yep, or do a fake sneak and shot put pass it to the huge TE.

No way do you run outside the tackles there. If you can’t put your head down and get a yard in 4 tries you don’t deserve to win.

Sark probably lost 8 yards on purpose so he could create more field and open up his play sheet.

OC thru and thru. Nothing more, nothing less.

Instagram culture has spread to the coaching profession. In that scenario of 2nd and goal from the 1 after a failed 1st down power run, coaches fear the criticism of running up the middle 3 more times (a play call anyone could come up with), failing, and being called unintelligent and lacking creativity. They would rather use their “special play” and either look like a genius when it works or at least say they are “aggressive” if it fails.

Same with James Franklin not taking it to overtime and going air raid with a struggling QB when the run game is all that had worked all night. He feared being called conservative if they lost in OT.

Most programs don’t have a strong CEO leading a winning strategy anymore. It’s just two coordinators taking turns auditioning for HC jobs hoping their team has more points when the clock hits zero.
