Are we really complaining about the eligibility of a backup QB?

Not even a Bama backup, we are talking about a Kentucky backup here.

This has to rank pretty high on the Who-Gives-Two-Fricks list during opening week.

I'm sure the player trying to play this season doesn't feel the same. So because his team sucks, his waiver request should be ignored by the SEC?

I mean don’t rules mean something? He transfers from 1 sec school to another after playing some games last year, and he wants immediately eligibility to now play AGAINST his old team?

Yeah it’s pretty easy to see why the League is drawing a line here. These kids can’t always look to beat the system. Free agency is for the NFL

They're not drawing a line. They're just ignoring the transfer waivers, which the rules provide as an avenue for transferring players. The SEC, currently, isn't following their own rules. If they don't want to grant the waiver requests, fine. But they need to actually do that. They haven't done anything and the season starts in 3 days. Sankey telling people to change the rules is him passing the ball rather than doing his job in this situation. This was his comment on the pending waivers
quote:

As for the timeline for athletes waiting on his office for a ruling, Sankey said he would not comment on individual cases but added that the conference aims to “work to move through matters efficiently, but there’s always been variance.”

He must have a different definition of "efficient" than the rest of the working world. These players didn't apply for waivers last week. Sankey needs to make a ruling on each of these cases, whatever that ruling may be, and that is inarguable.
