Notre dame didn’t deserve that spot. Honestly Bama should have gotten a bye instead. But of the options available, Notre Dame was the correct answer. The playoffs got it right or as right as they can. No controversy this year, just bitter fans and folks that don’t understand how the system works. Unfortunately these fanatics are hell bent on solving a problem that doesn’t exist by expanding the playoffs to include more unworthy teams because emotionally it makes them feel better. Somewhere the concept of earning a shot and the playoffs having value is lost on them. The playoffs are by intent supposed to be exclusive rather than inclusive. The idea that the best team should get in based of set standards and criteria is replaced by the “fanatic” with the idea that team x was good enough but didn’t meet the criteria so the system is unfair.

2 loss P5 conference champion
1 loss P5 team


Go down the list til you get 4 teams starting at 4 teams. It’s not that hard and honestly by the time you get to the 3rd option you are just looking for a filler 4th team not years.

Money for the schools, money for the conference, money (bonuses) for the coaches, money for the bowls and the cities, etc. That being a given, if Ohio State deserved a playoff spot playing only five games, then the rest of the SEC should get credit for all the patsy games they didn’t play. Troy, UTSA, Etc. Every SEC team that played would have been bowl eligible in a normal year. Why don’t you dipshits support your own conference?
