This Alabama team is strangly enough very similar to 2016 Auburn

When Auburn had Sean White at QB. Against mediocre or bad run defenses both teams ran at will. 400, 500 yard games, 8-9 YPC, etc. The QBs were pretty solid when the run game worked and they could throw off of it.

However, against good defenses that defend the run, that run game became less potent (still good, but not overpowering) and the lack of a competent passing option doomed everything. Plus strange play calling at times.

Hurts isn’t the answer going forward for Bama.

The passing game certainly has to improve. At some point other options have to be considered.

Loses to a team. Next day compares said team to his former team.

Working out the cognitive dissonance.

This is good for the soul.

Reread it again if you’re having trouble.

Hurts has lost two games in his entire college career

Our QB centric offensive numbers against Top 25 defenses the last 2 years are ugly. I love Jalen, but stats don't lie.

If there isn't improvement there, however that occurs, we won't eclipse a ceiling.

I compared our team to a prior year version of that opposing team.

Thanks for stopping in the thread.

Damien Harris with 6 carries because we want, what, exactly? Balance?
Balance got our asses beat last night.

I would say last year's Ohio State team is a better comparison. Both teams might end up making the CFB Playoff without winning their division. Also, Hurts is a very similar QB to Barrett. Both QBs have gawdy win-loss records, put up great numbers against weaker teams and constantly gets exposed when they go up against stronger competition.

3 bad arse RBs combined for 18 carries and 6.8 ypc.

Yet the QB runs 18 times, himself, for 4.6 ypc. And probably bailed out and threw the ball OOB more than each of those RBs had carries.

What kind of operation are we running up there?

There are some SEC teams with some serious issues at stopping the run. Both teams plan last night was to stop the run and make the QB win the game. Jarrett Stidham stepped up and had the best game of his career so far.

I have a hard time understanding why Bama Fans are blaming Hurts. If you watched the LOS, the OL was getting their butts handed to them all night. If it was normal QB for Bama, AU would have had 8-10 sacks. Also a factor was the AU DBs covered the Bama WRs very well last night.

Is it safe to say that average is inflated due to the opening drive after halftime?

They didn't get many yards other than that.

What game did you watch? Auburn's secondary got their asses handed to them all game long but Hurts couldn't find the open receivers. Auburn's secondary if they weren't holding they were getting beat.

Auburn's DL is good but they aren't world beaters at all. Bama's OL did a fair job and I believe a good enough job to win. Bama certainly could've utilized their RBs more.

Bama's defense played well enough to win.

You are right as far as the Iron Bowl goes, but against MSU and LSU, Hurts's arm was the difference in the games. He had a bad day. Whole team did.
