But here is my best guess as to what has actually happened since the MAC threw in the towel over the weekend:

I think the Big 10 Presidents did vote this morning, and its likely that the reports of a 12-2 vote to cancel the season did in fact happen. If it hadn't happened, the Big 10 itself would have very quickly made a statement to refute the news, but it did not. I think they intentionally leaked it to the media in hopes that the other major conferences would quickly follow in the same direction.

Now that the SEC and ACC seem to have doubled down on their intention to at least TRY to still play, many of those University Presidents who did vote "no" towards playing the season are starting to have second thoughts.

I think Nebraska and Iowa likely did vote on playing this season. That's why Nebraska HC Frost made the statement that if Nebraska can't play in the Big 10 this season, they'll look at other options.

That's not only a statement of intent to play this season. That's a threat to the league that if they continue down this path, there might be lasting repercussions such as the break-up of the entire league.

The SEC was brilliant to postpone play until late September. The ACC was very stupid to try to start their season on 9/12. They might pull it off, but the SEC has two extra weeks to evaluate the very fluid situation. The Big 12 will likely announce their schedule this week, and I'm going to guess they'll follow the SEC and kick the season off on 9/26.

The Big 10 has a real pickle on their hands. They have got to make a final decision this week since their season is set to kick-off just 24 days from now. The SEC doesn't even have to make a decision until about 24 days from now, so when the SEC is getting ready to make the call, the BIG 10 will already be playing or will have already called the season off.

The B1G is fricked if they lose Nebraska.

That’s the most loyal fan base in America arguably.

I agree with you. The whole notion that there “was no vote” sounds like quintessential backpedaling when the reaction didn’t get the result they wanted.

If they left where would they go?? They hated Texas so I don't think they want to go back into that turmoil.

I agree. They snuck results thru back channels hoping the SEC would make official cancelation statement simultaneously.

Big Wuss, if you ask me.

Not a Big 10 fan, but the above is not true. Only the loss of OSU or Michigan could doom the Big 10.

I could see them and Ohio State joining another top conference to form a new power conference.

Michigan would probably follow suit. Harbaugh wants to play as well.

Have Iowa and Nebraska join our conference. We could change the name to the South Midwest Conference, it could work.

I’d welcome them to the SEC in a heartbeat. I know they don’t fit geographically at all, but frick that would be awesome.
