This is exactly why I proposed the following earlier.

A : Texas, Aggy, Arky, Ole Miss

B : OU, LSU, Mizzou, Miss St.

Everybody gets both SEC and BIG12 matchups. Its not perfect but It never will be.

Outside pod annual matchups as follows:
Tex - OU
Ole Miss - State
ARK - Mizzou
LSU - A&M

As an Arkansas fan it would suck to not play LSU every year, but it is what it is.

Texas will be in the West and OU to the East.

OU and UT will get their annual Red River Battle each year.

9 conference games so the little guys can maybe get to 6 wins and a bowl game each year.

Nothing to it. The AD's might need to throttle back on some of those bigger name OOC games already printed.

Well I tried to come up with a POD with a permanent cross over, i.e. a 3-1-5 but I screwed it up.

How do you envision handling the 5 rotation games. So that is Rotation teams 1 through 11 if my Math is correct (LSU, plus 3 POD teams plus A&M in your format)

So LSU plays teams 1 through 5 in year 1 and 2, then teams 6-10 in years 3 and 4, then in year 5 and 6, Team 11 and then back with 1 through 4, in year 7 and 8, Teams 5 through 9, etc, etc.

Does this sound correct?

How many out of conference gimme games does this allow? Any reason to go out and play somebody "hard" like PennState or North Carolina, Miami, Clemson?

No it doesn't.

Let the teams work out 3 permanent opponents. You can have 16 different virtual pods. For example AU can have AL, GA, FL if those teams agree. Bama can have AU, TN, LSU if those teams agree and so forth. With a 9 game conf schedule, you schedule home and away games over the next 4 yrs. This is the same as your fixed pod but allows for the preservation of more team specific rivalry games.

Isn't the push to have every team play every SEC team every 4 years the reason pods are being considered? It does suck that you can play for 4 years and never play UGA or Bama or LSU.

The SEC is not like any other conference. Each school can wake up in the morning and before breakfast, decide to leave the SEC, and by the time they finish their eggs and bacon, that school is gone.

The SEC schools did not sign GOR, they are not bound by any legal paper, and there is no penalty for leaving.

By noon, they could have called all the other schools and take them with them

Shoot, those schools could by late afternoon, same day, start a new conference.

So trying to "force" the SEC to do something is futile. If the SEC office were to try and move to Dallas (UT influence) by the time they get there they could be an office without a conference.

That is fact

If you're in the West then you keep your division games (adding Texas) and the East does the same (adding OU)

Texas and Texas A&M play every year as does Texas and OU (crossover).

Setup a rotation for both schools to play teams in the other division just like you do now.

You don't have to make this difficult.

With the new change in college football, it’s time to get rid of those four games unless they go to a 9 game schedule with 4 pods, one permanent opponent in each pod and play another pod each year.
3 games each pod
3 permanent games
3 against another pod
This way if we go with the rumored pods, we solve this problem and play every team within 3 years.
Let’s use LSU for example
A&M, ole miss and state
3 permanent opponent, one from each pod
Florida, Arkansas, Alabama/Auburn
Then a pod that rotates every year. Easiest way to keep Bama-Tennessee, Auburn-uga, uga-Florida and the iron bowl

By the way, I’m tired of those four games determining everything

I agree, the first time I did it I shorted a game, only accounted for 15, total Fubar on my part.

So take this to the East, with the PODS proposed (BAMA/TENN/Auburn/Vandy) and (UGA/Florida/UK/SCAR)

UGA would play Auburn across PODS, how do you handle Bama/TENN and Florida. So lets assume TENN gets their act together and they are competitive against Bama, UGA and Florida.

Auburn has UGA, TENN and Bama

If Bama gets Florida, then they have TENN/Auburn/Florida, Florida has UGA and Bama and TENN just has Auburn and Bama from its PODS. IF TENN gets Florida, then TENN has Bama/Auburn/Florida and Bama only has TENN and Auburn.

I will say your Western side PODs balanced out well.

LSU gets OU/A&M
A&M gets LSU/Texas
Texas gets A&M/OU
OU gets LSU/Texas

4 Pods- ten games

Play your three schools in you pod

Play two other in each of the other three

Play one permanent (rival) if you want, or if not just pick up another team from the three other pods

_________________________________________________________

OOC- you could have two (some SEC schools have traditional OOC games UF/FSU for example

12 game schedule

I highly doubt OU will be ok with that but maybe. It gets them in the south east recruiting foot print heavily.

The SEC office isn't going to attempt to make a mess with pods when it is not needed.

9 SEC games and 3 OOC so the lesser teams have a chance to get to 6-7 wins.

Why would OU have a problem with the East? They will play A&M every year and UT every year. The rotate like everybody else to get a shot at LSU/Bama/A&M.
