Miami and Arizona both better. If FSU had any luck in Omaha, they would be in the conversation for Top 5. As is, they are a Top 10 program

Boggles the mind...57% efficiency.
LSU's 33% pales; math wizards, how many more Appearances/w Wins will we need to catch USC?

o.o

we'd need to go 16 Wins/in 28 Appearances to get back into efficiency. Of course, anyone who reaches double digit wins has be considered for best program of all time.

USC is like UCLA in basketball

They both cheat at the highest levels?

Not saying Wooden was a bad coach. He was a respectable ~.65 over his career prior to Sam "Papa" Gilbert joining UCLA. Suddenly Wooden jumps from ~.65 to ~.95 and goes on his decade run. Sam Gilbert was a known mobster and yet Wooden got to keep all the banners.

USC has been proven to cheat in all sports and was a clear case of "loss of institutional control" worthy of the Death Penalty. USC was cheating at Women's Soccer and Volleyball in addition to the major sports.

If a SEC school did what UCLA or USC did, the NCAA would have burned it all down and salted the earth after.

Coastal is 1 for 1..they only need 11 more trips haha.

Honestly 33% is really good, we are 5/11 on making the title game and I am really happy with that

What was the level of competition for USC back in the 70's? For LSU in the 90'2000's ? Plus, in addition to LSU's 6 national titles, LSU was runner up 6 times as well.

Tell me you typed the bolded part with a straight face, and didn't do it while sitting in the passenger seat of a Dodge Charger.

Not to nitpick, but my only change would be moving Fullerton to 8 and moving Oregon State above each FSU and OK State.

I feel like you at least have to win a championship to be in the top 10, and OK State hasn't done that in forever (FSU never)

All in all, good list, and I agree 100% on the first 8 teams

“ The LSU Tigers have fielded one of baseball's elite programs for two decades. Currently coached by Paul Mainieri”

How old is this article?

It's an "All-Time" list, not a "Recent History" list.
The CWS has changed over time, the biggest being in 1988 when it switched from (i) ONE 8-team, double-elimination tournament format to (ii) TWO, 4-Team double-elimination mini-tournaments. The new format provides at least one day off (sometimes two) between the mini-tournaments and the finals, which benefits teams with weaker pitching staffs.

The biggest change was from ~ 1985-2009, the "live-ball" era, with the weaponized aluminum bats and the juiced balls and juiced ball players. "Chicks dig the long ball."

The games with 10 combined runs or more in each decade are listed below:

50's, 5 out of 10, 50%
60's, 3 out of 10, 30%
70's, 2 out of 10, 20%
80's, 6 out of 10, 60%
90's, 6 out of 10, 60%
00's, 13 out of 21, 62%
10's, 3 out of 25, 12%

From '94-'02, the 9 games averaged ~ 18 runs/game. That's more like a Sunday softball game.

I like real baseball that requires pitching, hitting & defense.

The game changes over time, and it's hard to compare one era to another.

Ohhh, all good partner. You make valid points certainly. I am factoring alot of things in besides championships. Stadium, facilities, fan support/attendance players sent to pro baseball, etc.
If you want to just go on CWS Championships then Minnesota, OSU, and Meeeechigan would have a dog in the fight. Peace bro!

UGA has been in 3 CWS since USCw last went, including a runner up on 2008

Looking at that list, I immediately thought of Cal State Fullerton. I see others have commented as well.

18 CWS appearances. 4 titles.

Solid list for most part but yeah Miami should be in place of Stanford.
