The timeouts taken at the end was stupid coaching 101.

In that moment, you have to have the right play call (or 2) for the 2 point conversion ready to go before that drive even starts.

Hold on to those timeouts, get a stop and leave yourself a chance for a FG to win it.

Kiffen is a troll of a coach and should be embarrassed.

Definitely outsmarted himself there. They had all the momentum. Should’ve just rolled with it.

That combined with the last 3 weeks has made me turn from wanting him to stay to “Meh. If he leaves I won’t be upset”.

Freeze at Auburn scares me more than Kiffin at Auburn

That’s Lane Kiffin for you. Guy makes at least 5 absolutely retarded decisions every single game but casuals suck him off relentlessly. The first time he went for a 4th and 5 inside his own 20 at an elite program his house would be burnt down. Ole Miss is perfect for him. They’re elated with seasons like this.

Eh, onsides is a long shot. Get your best play called. Thought we choked on it against Alabama with timeouts in our pocket. Credit goes to States defender.

That’s the point. If you don’t get the onside kick you can stop the clock three times and get the ball back.

Between not kicking the fg to go up 5 and burning two time outs on the 2 pt conversion. Beyond dumb

It shouldn't take 2 timeouts to call your best 2 pt play.

One or two doesn’t matter. Once you use one you gotta score.

Lane went all in on that when he didn't have to. You practice 2 point plays all the time, you should have one ready to go. They knew they were down 8 the entire time, it wasn't like it was a heat of the moment decision to go for 2.

They probably would have still lost in the end but there's just no defending that sequence.

Him calling those timeouts almost single handedly has me off the Lane Train. A truly stunning level of unpreparedness. I mean you knew for several minutes if you scored you would have to go for 2. How do you not have a play ready?

Yep you just gave that defense about 2 minutes to catch their wind as well…

You can control having 3 timeouts left to possibly get the ball back if you don't get the 2PC. There was still over a minute left. You get a 3 and out and burn your timeouts then you have a minute with college clock rules to get in FG range for the win at the very least.

Are people unironically trying to defend this?

That’s the whole point. He should’ve had his best play ready before the drive even started.

You only have a minute if you stop them. You put the ball in the hands of your best unit. It would be different if we were Kentucky or Baylor.

Fine. But if you’re going to gamble on a single play, offensive, defensive or special teams, you make sure you get exactly what you want and everyone on the same page.
