The Texas A&M vs. Texas game needs to be played annually, so placing A&M in the West Division is great TV. And before you say that the Southwest Division is too weak, remember it's a 9-game schedule with the two highest ranked teams going to the SEC Championship. Nine SEC games will separate the the great teams from the average teams with possibly 6-8 SEC teams making the CFB playoffs based on team rankings and big wins.

West - Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Missouri.

Southwest - LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State.

Southeast - Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.

East - Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Kentucky.

*The key for me is to play every team in the conference every other year.

So does the LSU/A&M game. That budding rivalry has shown some real promise

Just for college football tradition sake, I agree. I also want to keep playing them every year though.

But let’s play Texas every year yeah. If they want to play Big Boy Football then let’s play.

I think something that is getting overlooked in all of this is how big of a media draw some of these rivalry draws will be and how much of a boon that is for the SEC media rights.

College football fans, even if they hate your conference, will always tune in for a good classic rivalry game. Those extra eyeballs out of your normal set are worth a huge amount in today’s media market .

Texas/OU and Texas/Texas A&M will absolutely be every year because those games print money. Funny enough, Texas/Ark and OU/Mizzou will have a similar but lessened viewership. ThT is one of the reason I keep thinking if they are going pods they have a problem because there is not an easy foursome there that would maximize rivalry viewership each year.

It’s a fun problem to ha e, but I wouldn’t want to be tasked with figuring this out.

I misread your title as "needs to played anally." and thought to myself, well I can see both of those schools getting excited for that.

I would love to play A&M annually, but with the level of hate I'm witnessing between the Aggies and Longhorns this rivalry game must be annually... Everyone wants to see the Hatfields & McCoys go at it.

Some fans are hoping for the easiest possible pod to win. I'd like a pod with Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, and A&M.

If the last 3 days are any indication, Texas - Texas A&M has to happen every year, regardless of whether they’re in the same division or not. It’s too good of a rivalry to not happen.

It’s likely to be more regional and distances from schools.

Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri are likely to be together. While Texas, aTm, and LSU are likely to be paired together.

The 4th team in those two pods will likely be the question. Split the Mississippi schools? Split the Tennessee schools?

Solid pods. Funny with all that it’s Mizzou that gets screwed with the toughest draw.

You don't break up the Texas vs. OU rivalry, especially since regionally so close to each other.

Yeah, that’s who we are trying to get away from.

The reality is that A&M has wanted the LSU “rivalry” more than LSU has wanted it from day one. The Thanksgiving day games were, amazingly, one of the few things LSU fans could have hated more than playing Arky on the Friday after Thanksgiving. That was for you guys, not us.

It all felt like a very forced attempt by the conference to fill the hole left when you guys stopped playing Texas. A&M fans leaned into it, but that hole didn’t exist on our end. We enjoy playing A&M, but it’s not a game I feel has to be played every single year.

As much as I hate the current cross-divisional permanent opponents, the idea of losing the annual Florida game is actually bittersweet for me. That series has been crazy competitive and both teams have had really strong runs during our long history of playing every year. One of my earliest and fondest memories of LSU football is being in Tiger Stadium for the 1997 Florida game, when we beat Spurrier’s #1 team.

I could see something with two strong teams in each pod in the interest of fairness

OU, Ark, Texas, ? (Mizz)
A&M, LSU, Miss schools
Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, ? (Vanderbilt)
Florida, UGA, ? (USC), ?(UK)

Every team also has out of pod rivalry game.

Texas/A&M
UGA/Auburn
Florida/LSU (after shoe gate, this has to be played)

etc, etc ...
