The single greatest SEC play is Billy Cannon's Halloween run.

Really? Then why did they lose to Ole Miss (and Charlie Flowers) in the bowl game?

Bama is going to claim this somehow, some way.

That shows that Ole Miss was the better team.

It’s a blue blood play
Happened a long time ago and nothing that has happened since can change that
That’s how it works right

How? Final rankings were determined before bowl games in 1959
What hurt the significance of the play was Tennessee stopping LSU at the goal line to prevent them from winning B2B national titles

I’m assuming Tennessee had 12 players on D and the corrupt SEC officials missed it.

Nah, but Cannon definitely scored on the play

Without the subsequent LSU goal line stand it would have been just a scoring play. Cost Miss a NC title…but in the “mulligan” Sugar bowl game Ole Miss dominate by the score of….
…wait for it…
21-0
…wait for it…
21-0

Oddly enough, neither LSU nor Ole Miss won the SEC in 1959 but both finished ranked above the team who did, Georgia. All three teams finished the regular season 9-1. Georgia lost to South Carolina, LSU to Tennessee, and Ole Miss to LSU. The teams finished 2,3, and 5 in the final AP Poll. 11-0 Syracuse won the national title.

Nobody scored on the Ole Miss defense that year. They gave up 21 points…a pick six, fumble scoop and score, and this friggin punt return. This was the best team in the country that season.

Dude couldn't outrun the ref. It was okay, but it was against Ole Miss.
