Tennessee is going to surprise people this year. Bank on that. The offense will be lights out if everyone stays healthy.

8-4 would be losses to Bama, UGA, UF, and USC.
Dooley would survive, but most fans would want him fired if he cannot beat one of those teams this year.
8-4 would be about the worst case scenario for the program.
7-5 or worse and he is gone, 9-3 or better and we are at least feeling pretty good heading into 2013.

If we go 9-3 but lose to state, bama, and UGA his arse needs to be gone.
If we go 8-4 and we lose to UF along with the teams above I want him out. He hasn't proven a damn thing to me and I loved him after year one.
Point is our schedule is a joke

Really? You'd want him gone for going 9-3?

Your program took a straight nosedive into the toilet after losing the 2007 SECCG and it's hard to see it improving by a large margin under Dooley, honestly.

Hell, through the Shula era I would have loved an 8-4 season. And dooley is no better than Shula. Its a start.

The 1990s was a fluke for many reasons. Tennessee fans became deluded after all the success they had back in those days. The truth is 2002-2008 is right along the lines of what their program is without a really special coach. Obviously, there's no excuse for having two losing seasons within that time period and that's what got Fulmer fired but in the other five seasons, Tennessee went 8-5, 10-3, 10-3, 9-4, 10-4. If you think Tennessee could have done much better with another coach not named Saban or Meyer over that time period, you're fooling yourself.

I'd rather have us losing to Misery than to the fricking Gata AGAIN.
But,IF we lose to NCSU, then the season is Hellbound. 'Nuff said.

Based off our game with them last year, I didn't really think the offense was their problem. Their defense however was absolutely horrible. Our anemic run game went for 254 on them which was just crazy. They just seemed weak and overpowered in the front 7. Not like any Tennessee team I have ever seen us play before.
They need to get that fixed before the will compete for the east again imo. Losing their DC after the season may just have been a blessing in disguise.

IMO, the biggest factor is the HC. And I think the jury is still out on Dooley. I don't think he inherited the best of situations and as mentioned in the OP the competition (as compared to the mid-90s) is tough.
I think Dooley in improving the player caliber. For Dooley to succeed he needs to: a) avoid embarassing losses (e.g., UK) and b) have a signature win.
If Dooley tanks who will y'all get to replace him?

Under the circumstances that we beat UF (at home) then lose to state (away)in the same season? Absolutely we got rid of Fulmer bc of the same type of issues why settle for it now?

Because it shows real significant progress and would probably mean UT is headed in the right direction once more.

Are you talking about Miss St? I didn't say anything about them. 9-3 with losses to Bama, @ UGA, and @ SC should keep Knoxville happy.

If we lose to NC State, buckle up because it will be a hell of a season from an entertainment standpoint.
