The SEC has an impressive amount of teams who can claim at least one AP national championship:

Alabama - 11 (1961, 1964, 1965, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017)
Florida - 3 (1996, 2006, 2008)
LSU - 3 (1958, 2007, 2019)
Auburn - 2 (1957, 2010)
Tennessee - 2 (1951, 1998)
Georgia - 1 (1980)
Texas A&M - 1 (1939)

It's hilarious Alabama claims half of those and you think LSU can't claim the National Title they actually won. Auburn 1983 deserves a natty over at least 50% of Bama's. But yes biased media is the deciding factor

We don't claim any of those. We were awarded a trophy by the Associated Press in each of those years.

And Alabama likely deserved a natty in both 1966 and 1977, yet media bias for Notre Dame kept us from winning in each of those years. Auburn can cry me a river. We were shafted just like they were.

We know you made this thread to leave 2003 off of LSU's list

Alabama also has a championship missing from this list: 1973. The Coaches awarded us the national title that year but AP gave their trophy to Notre Dame. The same thing happened to LSU in 2003. I don't see what is controversial about that. This thread was made because today the AP releases its preseason Top 25 list.

Fair enough. It's not like Alabama is hurting for championships anyways

And ND went undefeated and beat Bama in their bowl game.

Why wouldn't they be National Champions over Bama? BTW I get the NC's were awarded
before bowl games.

There really isn't much of a claim for Bama.

What exactly are you trying to say? We don't "claim" an AP national championship in 1973 because the Associated Press didn't award us their trophy. The Coaches, through United Press, awarded us a national championship that year however. That is one of the two major polls, hence why we list 1973 as a national championship season.

Hence all the down votes. No one can troll facts because facts are stubborn and monolithic things.

Wow, this was the last time A1abana managed to win the SEC and Natty in a season. (Half a decade!)

Poor Gump made this thread to literally not include LSU's 2003 national title team, which they legitimately won of course. Always on their minds.
