I didn’t actuallly watch the game yesterday but I have been watching the rerun today. I kept hearing it was Auburn’s 3 point play that won the day. And to be sure the 3 point game was lethal. But it was Auburn’s cat-like defense which totally disrupted Tennessee’s interior game. It set up one fast break after another, and thereby also setup the 3 point play. Congrats on a solid team.

One day people will understand that is a very important part of winning a game.

Threes weren’t falling early, but our quick hands on the defensive end were too disruptive for the Vols and kept giving us free possessions, allowing us to shoot for crazy volume. Once we started hitting those threes, we dusted them.

The reason was because Tennessee turned it over at the highest rate of any half in the Rick Barnes era in the first half.

Was a truly pathetic effort.

Auburn has much more quality depth than Tennessee and outplayed them from the jump. Schofield never entered the gym and Williams was as sloppy as he's been since his freshman year.

Barnes I don't believe ever stood up in the second half and Bone, Williams and Schofield probably shouldn't have played at all in the second half as it was obvious they didn't have it and all those minutes in 3 days is a recipe for injury leading in to the tournament.

It's also a horrendous matchup for Tennessee and Tennessee has very little quality depth. Tennessee essentially plays 6.5 guys and Auburn has 10 guys they trust.

I agree that our depth is what carried Auburn yesterday and recently. Hasn’t always been that way though. At one point Purifoy didn’t play at all during a 16 point win over A&M and it wasn’t known how long it would take to shake the rust off. Similarly, Jvon and Doughty struggled in SEC play. Those three have been playing huge lately.

I loved seeing Bruce stay on their asses even they were up big vs UT. AU played with a ton of energy.

Yeah the energy was the biggest difference in the game. Outside of Turner no one came to play for Tennessee. Tennessee never had a chance.

I left the game with about 10 minutes left but I was getting very pissed that Tennessee didn't take out Williams, Bone and Schofield until 5 minutes left and so were many around me. Absolutely no excuse for playing them as much as they did in the second half, especially when we could have theoretically gotten a Thursday/Saturday regional.

It should have been Bowden or Turner/Johnson/Pons/Fulkerson/Walker the last 15 minutes of the game.

That can't be, because two seasons ago some South Carolina fans on here told me that Bruce Pearl can't coach defense

a lot of Auburn`s pre-season hype was Purifoy and Wiley coming back, they are both now just starting to get back in the rotation and contributing, both played well against UT and can go against any bigs in the country and hold their own, that`s an element AU has missed the last year and a half.

Auburn was +10 in the turnover margin vs Tennessee
Auburn was +15 in the turnover margin vs Florida

Tennessee lost their composure early in that game, that is why they got a beating. It was odd to see but UT got rattled. It's like they weren't expecting a fight and they just played them and lost a week ago. But it was a good game and in Auburn's gym. I did not expect to see a lack of composure from the vols.

I don’t think they lost their composure as much as they were physically knocked out. Bone and Williams were grabbing their shorts and asking out of the game 5 minutes in to the game. Auburn had to know the game was won then.

Barnes waived the white flag almost immediately. Called one timeout in the whole game despite tons of Auburn runs.

Starters should not have played in the second half once AU pushed it out to 16 or whatever it was. It was obvious they had no chance.

VOLS desperately need to develop a bench for the tournament and that second 5 could have used 20 minutes of run yesterday.

It was truly a clinic. Tennessee seemed extremely unprepared for what they saw.
