He didn’t have a committable offer. Per my sauces.

Ole Miss smartly swings big while Arkansas bungles search

quote:

Ole Miss landed the biggest, and in some ways, riskiest, name it could. Arkansas landed a guy best known for yelling “Yes Sir” in recruiting videos.

There is no guarantee one will be better than the other. There are several factors, including staffing, still to be determined, which can significantly impact success. But one thing is evident: Ole Miss ran the better search process and landed the buzzy name that Arkansas could badly use right now. Just look at the scene Lane Kiffin created when he arrived in Oxford this weekend, from the national coverage to the incredible video of him holding a baby. Not only will Kiffin deliver better fan support and ticket sales, he has the confidence to think he can beat anyone in the SEC, including his former boss in Tuscaloosa. The former Tennessee and USC head coach is going to recruit at a high level and there is already a strong buzz within the coaching community about the staff he is trying to put together.

Soft offer in response to his flaky nature. Looks like they made a good call. He'll be just as quick to leave Ole Miss for the next job that comes calling. Hate to see fellow SEC brethren falling prey to such a parasite. Sucks to get Sexton'd. Prayers for our friends in Mississippi.

Please don't tell me you're saying Arkansas even remotely made a decent hire compared to Kiffin

Okay so all jokes aside and just to be clear, he did not have a committable offer but he did have a memorandum of understanding?

How many Arkansas fans even knew who Pittman was before this hire?

I'm positive at least 3/4 of the Arkansas football fanbase had no idea this guy existed, much less recall Pittman as their own OL coach a few years ago.

Arkansas needs someone that can stabilize the program and get them to average (up from garbage) for the next few years so they can then lure in a younger coach to raise them up. If Pittman can get some good assistants he can do that. It may not be that bad of a hire.

I think most informed fans new he was. Don’t think he was everyone’s first pick. I don’t think Pruitt was Tennessee first pick either. That looks like it’s going to work out pretty well if they continue to keep getting better. Some stuff works out some doesn’t.

I knew who he was. He became known when we had them big lines. He left and we went to total shite.

I wanted him back on staff. Got him as H.C.

A functional shitty coach will get us two wins. Pittman can fail and it will be improvement. Folks dont get that. We can't really get any worse. You would have to be a total frick up in life to keep us this bad.

The Arkies didn't want to face NCAA sanctions.
