Give the #1 and #2 seeds a BYE

It's absurd that Ohio State and Georgia are getting left out. They can match up with any team out of the top 4 and would be favored to beat Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Are we just content to keep up with this "Only 4 teams" crap when there are clearly better teams getting left out?

It takes the importance out of regular season games.

expand to 8. take the champs.

we are already at a point where talking heads are trying to downplay losses based on their own subjective eye tests

Six teams wouldn't mess with it that much.

8 teams would.

It's pretty clear that Bama and Clemson deserve BYE's. This current format with only 4 teams is such a joke.

We're going to look back at it in 15 years and laugh.

I mean, it's never absurd that a team with 2 losses gets left out. Especially when one if those losses was by 20 points.

Should they be in? Maybe. Absurd they dont have a chance? No.

Who cares? How many of the top 4 wouldn't have lost @ LSU and against Alabama. It's not like all these teams are playing each other. The schedule discrepancies are enormous.

Expand to 40, so Auburn has a chance to get in.

1 Alabama 13-0
2 Clemson 13-0
3 Notre Dame 12-0
4 Oklahoma 12-1 (1-1 vs Texas)

4 = enough; ensures 2 best/most deserving in.

Georgia - lost 2, lost bigly to LSU
Ohio St - lost bigly to 6-6 Purdue, close calls
Michigan - lost 2, lost bigly to OSU
UCF - would go about 4-4 vs an SEC schedule

LSU went 9-3 and had one of the least efficient offenses in the P5. They were a solid team, but losing to them by 20 isnt just a thing that can be brushed away when asking who is the best team in the country.

Again, are they one of the best 4? Probably. But if you lose 2 times it is not absurd to say it was a good year but you dont get a title shot.

Ohio State and Georgia would be at least 7 point favorites against Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

the CFP contract calls for 4 teams and no change for 12 years (this is year 5 of the current contract) when the BCS was replaced with the CFP they set 12 years to keep from having to debate 6 - 8 - 10 -12 -16 -130 until this set would get a good review. If they went to 6, wouldnt UCF have a great bitch? 2 years without losing a game, beating the crackers out of an SEC team last year (that had beaten #1 twice)... so, if you let them in, you have to go to 8 and thats another 2 loss team, well, why stop there.... as the guys who worked this out, knew there will be no pleasing the next team(s) left out, each time there will be losers who will bitch

OSU who was locked in a 7 point game in the 4th quarter against Northwestern should be a 7 point favorite against Oklahoma?

Whatever you're smoking? Stop.
