99.9% of the the calls these bleeding vaginas whine about are a non-factor but they carry on with their conspiracy theories

The worst part is Tennessee took 3 timeouts yet replay officials never even looked at it to call down to correct it.

Yes, it didn’t technically matter in the game but it’s still perplexing because what would’ve happened if it was at the end of a game and it did matter?

It’s just more SEC ref incompetence

You do realize that the clock on tv isn’t the official clock, right?

I'm pretty sure it actually is. It would be impossible to run a separate official clock and sync them after every play. When the clock isn't working in the stadium, they take it off the TV too, for example.

It's not. The official time is kept on the field. It is normally in sync with the scoreboard (which is what you see on tv) but it's not the official game clock. That's why you hear in about every game "Reset the clock to 4:25" by the head ref.

Ehh...

quote:

Game Clock. Playing time shall be kept with a game clock that
may be either a stop watch operated by the line judge, back judge, field judge
or side judge, or a game clock operated by an assistant under the direction of
the appropriate judge. The type of game clock shall be determined by the game
management.

The clock is reset when something happens that can't be signaled fast enough. A timeout during a running clock may require an adjustment to the clock if/when the referee has positive knowledge of the time when the timeout was called. In other words, you get the timeout call, look at the game clock, and then make a mental note of the time.

The time is only kept on the field when the clock is malfunctioning.

ETA - it's laughable that you need 3 seconds to spike the ball and expect to run another play, but apparently you can throw an out route in only 1 second.
