Georgia's mascot for its first football game against Auburn, February 22, 1892 in Atlanta, Ga., was a goat. Old newspaper clippings indicate that the goat wore a black coat with red U.G. letters on each side. He also had on a hat with ribbons all down his high horns, and the Auburn fans yelled throughout the game "shoot the billy-goat."

From one clumsy mascot to another

That's true. Another fun fact: for a very brief period in the early 1920s we were referred to as the wildcats.

Sounds like a typical Ole Miss transfer student.

Btw we weren't the "UGA goats", that was just the mascot that was paraded around on the sideline.

If you think goats are clumsy, well, you’re just kind of a dumbass.

Is this the same game when the old Confederate Auburn fan poetically said war Eagle?

This is why I got fired up in my last post. Goats are totally badass - that would have been the best mascot in the SEC. Instead they have one of the worst and most unoriginal - Bulldogs are just worthless.

10RC's current mascot is a hillbilly with a dead coon on his head, and the band plays a fight song that moonshiners clog to.

I mean, it's not uncommon for them to fall off of mountains and die.

But, the fact that they all don't fall off those frozen rocks is damn impressive
