The ONLY thing I'd like to see from Cecil is the church money...

that's it. I don't really give a shite if Cam plays or doesn't play anymore. I hope AU & LSU win out so LSU will at least get a BCS bowl. However, the only part of this whole Camgate ordeal that still puzzles me is where the money for a church with very little congregation came up with a pretty sizable amount of money to keep from being condemned. There's just way too many "coincidences" to NOT be investigated.

I agree that it is a question that must be answered. Just for clarification, in all the hysteria to condemn cecil, Cam and AU people have assumed a huge amount of money was paid to keep the "church" from being condemned. From what I understand, the "church" had approximately 30k-50k worth of work done to bring it up to minimum code and is still not in usable condition. Regardless, with all of the allegations, that question must be answered.

Auburn boosters prayed for God to deliver Cam and when the miracle was granted they contributed to God via Cecil's church. The first amendment stops the NCAA from interfering with the practice of religion in Alabama.

No repairs on the Church were made until 2010, however.

There's a lot about it in the bottom of this article: LINK

Looks to me like they cut the grass and tore down a shack in the back yard. Don't know how much money that would take, but doesn't sound like too too much.

And, as has been said, that was done to remove the building off the condemned list, but it is not even close to being brought up to code and they still have to meet elsewhere to this day.

Looks like the city requested what they estimated to be about $50,000 worth of repairs to bring it up to code, and that hasn't been achieved.

So, yeah, Cecil's church at some point raised some money, but it's significantly less that $50k, and it didn't happen at any really suspicious timing either.

I don't know how much a small church could scrape together over a couple years, but surely it's enough to cut the grass and tear down a shack, right?
