As do I. I think I will start a thread about it.

The NIT is quality entertainment and keeps me on the edge of my seat the entire tourney.

Winning is always a good time, regardless of sport or team.
I chuckle at those who say, “It’s just [tennis/NIT/women].”
Screw that; life is more fun when you enjoy it!
Go, MSU.

Pulling for Saint Mary's and all their Aussies.

This St Mary’s Utah game is one of the worst games I have ever seen.

Obviously I am happy that State is still playing but what I have enjoyed the most is the changes. All of these need to be adopted.
Wider FT lane
Four Quarters
20 second reset on clock after a rebound or foul
5 fouls per quarter/no more one and one.
Longer three point distance for that shot
All these spread the action out, game moves along better, less time outs,
Hopefully they will do all of these changes, though I know the earliest that this will happen will be 2019-20.

I’m a fan of all except the longer 3 pt line.

Wild idea: Winner of the NIT gets an automatic bid in the following years NCAA tournament.

Aussies vs Mormons....
Would prefer to watch them play rugby

Agreed. Only thing that beats it for pure enjoyment is watching the Special Olympics 20-yard Walk finals.

The NIT is actually pretty tough. Winning it is a good accomplishment.

The NCAA killed the NIT with the "McGuire" rule requiring a team to participate in ncaa activities. The NIT was much more prestigious, teams went to Madison Square garden for all games and the media coverage was big time.
NCAA bought the NIT and that is the end of that story.

The NIT filed an antitrust suit against the NCAA because of a rule that mandates if a team is chosen for the NCAA Tournament it must play in that event rather than go to the NIT. The NIT was once the premier tournament, starting in 1938, a year before the NCAA Tournament.

Enough automatic bids already.

This. The World Cup only gives 32 bids. For the entire WORLD. 68/64 is too many

Just surprising that three #4 seeds have made it to the semi-finals, especially with the higher seeds having home court advantage.

Basically the NIT teams are on level with the NCAA teams that are in the 20-68 range. Obviously, upsets happen i.e. UMBC over UVA and such. But the teams in the NIT were basically one/two games away from being a NCAA tourney team.
Examples. If Louisville in bounds a pass with .9 seconds to go against UVA, they win that game and they are in.
If State beats Mizzou/Vandy on the road, both games lost at the last second, we are in.
Nebraska, St. Marys, Penn State, Marquette, ND, MTSU, OK State, W Kentucky and the list goes on. Effectively, speaking these teams are on par w/two thirds of the NCAA teams but because they lost a game or two was crucial when the bids came out. Overall, there is not much difference between a #6 seed in the NCAA and one of the NIT teams.
