Two weeks ago, he was unquestionably getting fired/leaving at the end of the season.

But now, he has won 2 SEC games in a row, one on the road, and one at home, both to break depressing streaks. We are now 4-1 against Florida in the last 5 games.
The 31 point win is our largest SEC margin since 1997, and our largest against SEC opponents other than Vandy since 1977. Pretty remarkable.

If you look at the season as a whole, this is what it looks like:
7 point loss at home to Ole Miss, a game you lead 10-0 early with Calzada as the QB. A really bad loss at South Carolina, an expected loss at Georgia, then a close game that you should have won against Texas. A bad loss to Tennessee, and then two wins in a row against Auburn, who then fired their coach, and then Florida, who had already fired their coach.

Now sitting at 4-5, with 3 winnable games left, suddently a bowl game is possible again.

Stoops in his career here has won a few games he shouldn't, but he has also lost a bunch he shouldn't have.

But, here we are. I think he is now in position to stay if he wants to regardless of what happens with Vandy and UL, although losses to both would really dampen the opinions on him back down, but we will have to see how that goes.

And with all the coaching vacancies already out there, firing him and becoming a team looking for a coach, now seems like a bad idea for this year.

So I don't think there is any scenario where he gets fired. What I think might happen is he might get us bowl eligible and then have someone like Va Tech or Iowa if their coach retires come looking for him. If so and it's a job he would like, I do think he would take it and leave, which might still be the best thing for both parties.

However, we have a strong core of young players who are showing out here late in the season, and if you can figure out a way to keep those guys, keep the offense going well. we could very well be a dangerous opponent next year.

The next 3 weeks are going to answer a lot of questions.

I like your young QB. If Stoops stays, I wouldn't be surprised to see you have one of those bounce back years in 2026. Just be smart and don't give him a huge contract extension if you do.

Ferentz will be be buried before he retires.

Unfortunately, we will have Stoops next year.

I can think of 38 million reasons that Barnhart will not fire him. But if he loses out then the big donors may still have the final say. What Stoops has done is buy time. If he beats Tennessee Tech and wins either Louisville or Vandy he stays fir sure. If he finishes 5-7 then the buyout saves him. These next three games could get him fired, cool off the hot seat or make his seat ice cold.

I mean, bro, we took the lead with 8:24 left in the second quarter and never trailed after that, but congrats on the moral victory, I guess?

I really, really hope y'all upset Linebeard U and/or the Pavia Pain Train to make a bowl. I'd love it even more if y'all beat them both and then win a bowl game and finish 8-5.

It’s just my opinion, but I really doubt he was. Just enjoy the wins. I know very well what it’s like to not be able to fully enjoy wins because they saved the coaches job. But in this case I don’t think it happened.

Frank Broyles used to say that they remember November. Wins right now can determine his future at the program and vice versa

Whole lotta words to say if Stoops doesn't take a buyout, we're stuck another year or two.
