As more and more bowl games are being added and more and more star players are quitting the team on them, the teams below the Championship contenders have nothing to play for.

66% of FBS teams in 2020 will play in a bowl game. It's just hard to be a fan of a team that can only consistently make bowl games and no one can tell if you're taking it seriously cause the stakes aren't as high anymore because bowls like the Citrus Bowl are basically equal to the Mobile Bowl.

It feels like we are getting to a point where bowls will be eliminated and the playoffs will just be expanded

Outside of the playoff, a bowl only matters now if it’s the first in a while or the first major bowl in a while. An expanded playoff will only make it worse.

I don’t see how this many bowls can continue to exist once the playoff is 8.

Didn’t even know football had nurses, honestly.

Revenue and viewership are just fine. Not sure what the “problem” is.

Any coach will tell you the extra practices you get in preparation for a bowl game is very valuable. It’s almost like an extra spring training.

You know what I think the problem is? It's just to dang hot to play football at noon in Alabama!

Why can't we have multiple post season tournaments besides the big one?

Bowl games = more practice and with the limit on practices that's a pretty big deal for teams.

It's just more football to me, I watch them if I can.

The bowls will exist as long as the sponsors put for the money to buy TV ads. Butts in seats look good but TV dollars run the show.

A few bug name bowls can mean a little but shite UF just won a "major bowl" and it didnt feel like much. I cared more about beating Michigan than the actual bowl game..which sucks..shouldn't feel that way

The problem is there is zero hint of parity.

There are like 10 teams that have any chance of winning a championship. Not just in a given year. The same programs every year.

Yeah, like the NCAAB has the NIT, what if there was a group of 5 playoff, a conference runner up playoff, etc.

Just make the playoff scheme replace the concept of bowl games outright. That'll fix it

You have a good point. At the very best, 40 teams enter the season with any chance at the playoffs. Not a good chance. Any chance.

By week three, that number is no better than 20 and by the midway point, that number will be 12. 90 percent of the teams are out by the midway point.

We need to scale back to a 10 game season and have a 16 team playoff.

Well, I think this LSU team gained a lot of momentum going into the offseason this year because of the Bowl game. It is a good way a team can finish on a positive note going into the off-season even if they arn't a championship caliber team.

Well, on any given Saturday 75% of the games are unwatchable piles of shite.

If you’re a fan on even a remotely succsssful power 5 team, half of your games, literally, half - are a waste of time.

We’re college football fans for a multitude of reasons. Competitive, exciting games cannot be at the top of that list - simply because they’re so few and far between.

This is entirely too many. But too many undeserving schools make too much money for the system to change
