I was in school when A&M was in the midst of winning the SWC 6 Times in 8 years. I went to all 6 CB's. It became just sad at the end, the Conference was shite and the Cotton Bowl needed to be condemned.
It was convenient as hell though. You had a road trip every year to DFW (SMU or TCU) and Houston (UH or Rice). Baylor and Austin were just down the road. The only trips you couldn't make on a tank of gas were Arkansas and Tech. A&M also played LSU OOC every year which wasn't a bad drive.
Like most things the sips screwed it up by getting greedy and pissing everyone off.
