The Kelly hire feels a lot like the Bielema hire to me.

He's a coach that's been pretty successful, but hasn't been anywhere near the SEC slaughter house schedule yet.
LSU does have more instate talent to work with though. I'm really curious how this is going to go.
ETA: Bert did have Alvarez holding his hand during his successful years.

Not at all. Jackie Sherrill when he went to MSU is a good comparison in terms of being experienced and successful. But LSU is a different beast than MSU and I think Kelly will do really well.

I agree Brian Kelly’s name doesn’t elicit the same reaction that an up and coming 35-45 year old offensive guru has. But don’t look just at his potential, look at his floor.
A mentor of mine used to say, don’t buy the sizzle, buy the steak.
