The "it's not fair to the kids" angle.

Big misconception here. It is not the "exploited" kids that make college football. It is and has always been the fans and their culture that make the sport. Alienate them and it will not last.

that was just Fisher trying to spin away from the real issue

Pretty much all the national media and reaction from players has been 100% on Jimbo’s side

It’s been days. And you’re still distilling your thoughts about this. Help feed the poor.

You need more? Talking Heads are always going to promote discussion, but the problem 8&4feit faces is that the SEC commissioner, the NCAA, and the vast majority of member institutions don't agree with allowing boosters to buy players, using NIL as a cover.

I said in another thread, the reason this has been such a hot issue even before Jimbo and Saban flapped their gums is that fans, especially the non well-heeled ones, have been basically been rendered irrelevant in this stuff, and they resent it for the reasons you stated.
But with the legal system driving these changes, and no advocates for fans likely to be heard in the process, what can they do save stay home, turn off the TV and stop buying merchandise? The problem is habits die hard … but they certainly aren’t immortal.

Until they take the money out of a kids hands it’s all hot air, law is not on their side.

College football can go on without fans, but they can’t play the game without players. See 2020.
I don’t want that to happen, but as long as you are turning on your tv to watch, that’s all that is needed from you. They don’t care what fans think, or the game and it’s structure would be a lot different and it would probably make more sense.

Agree with Original Post. It's not the kids in the jerseys.....it's the jerseys on the kids that make the money. 100 years of football culture built in.

But it isn't taking money out of kid's hands. The kid still has the opportunity to market his name and image, as intended. Boosters, though, can not provide pay for the kid to sign with his team. I know you want that and Fisher wants that, but the vast majority of other NCAA member institutions don't want that, and neither does the SEC commission or the majority of other SEC member institutions.
If 8&4feit want to play by their own rules, it is perfectly ok to do so outside of the SEC. Good luck finding enough teams to schedule that want to play by the same rules you do.

SMU did pretty well with fans when all their players were on the payroll. NCAA cronies destroying their product on the field was what alienated the fanbase.

Nobody is playing by the “rules” and haven’t been for about 40 years

Firstly, they're technically not kids. 18 year olds fought in numerous wars over the years.
