To be fair, if I was game planning against a Chizik (HC) defense, I'd make my entire playbook out of short passes.
Clemson 2011 comes to mind.

So allowing 100 yards rushing now means a defense sucks? That's not that much. 200 isn't a whole lot either. Cam had more than that against LSU alone.

In the entirety of what you quoted, I did not once say that people were playing catch up. In a high scoring game, against a team that can't stop the pass, Auburn fans think that teams were attacking them by running. Come on fellas. Auburn scores a lot and fast. Teams passed against them. Auburn was second the worst in completion percentage defense allowing OVER 60%

Tenn last season would have beat AU by double digits. It does not get much worse than the debacle that was AU football in 2012. 2000 Bama gives it a good run, but they actually won an SEC game.
