But Dan Mullen is the real prize here.

Clay Travis can keep blowing the guy but I've seen nothing to make me think that Gruden is prepared to be an elite college coach in 2018.

Dan Mullen took a cow school in Starkville and built a respectable football program and occasional contender, competing in the toughest division in the best conference in the country. He took over a program that had won 8+ games only six times since 1980, and has now won 8+ games five times since 2010. He's taken QB's that no one else wanted and turned them into SEC record breakers. And he's done it with fewer resources than anyone else in his division.

Why would Mullen take a lateral to UT?

If I was a Tenn fan, I would want Mullen over Gruden. If he can win 7-8 games consistent in the West with Miss St. no reason to think he can’t consistently win 9-10 games a year at Tenn. in the east.

Good question. Seems like a weird way to travel.

there is nothing lateral about that move. it would be like trading in your maroon bugati for an orange oldsmobile taxi
