The fake check-with-me play Alabama ran was cool.

Lot of respect for the Alabama coaches' attention to detail. They dial up these types of plays every now and again when they notice even the most minute tendencies in their opponents, like the onside kick against Clemson in one of the title games. Very cool stuff. I hope LSU took notes on that, not just on defense but to incorporate ourselves.

Was that the one where Stingley was distracted by our own fricking coach?

They fake looked to the sideline because they saw on film that it would trigger our whole defense to look to the sideline as well.

Then they snapped it really quickly when our heads were turned.

It was a clear trick play and perfectly executed. They saw something on film to exploit and nailed it. Props.

Yeah.

That's 7 pts they won't get from us in the playoffs.

Oh wait

Yes, but it's not that straightforward. You know the coaches don't randomly shout at the whole defense to get them to look to the sideline, right?

As a part of our defensive scheme, we check with our coaches when the offense checks with theirs, so we can adjust while they are.

If you watch the play carefully you can tell Alabama wasn't actually adjusting anything. Tua took the snap while his head was turned but didn't have any problem handling the snap. They clearly worked on that play and had it ready if we showed the tendency we had on film. It's the exact same thing they did to Clemson in the title game when they ran an onside kick--they knew Clemson had a tendency to line up and bunch up a certain way on kickoffs to optimize their blocks which left them vulnerable to an onside kick, so they picked their spot and went for it.

Our defenders do the same thing, but it doesn't take any sort of planning by the offense. They just screw it up anyway.

It was a pussy play. They couldn't score so they had to trick us.

It was a smart play that got rewarded. You sound like a moron.

We had 541 yards of total offense and scored 41 points

The execution was flawless as well. I could see State trying something like that but the throw would be 20 yards too long or the receiver would drop it.

That was a cool combination of crafty coaching and perfect player execution.

You just plain suck....recognize a good play when you see one instead of being a bleeding vag.

Come on, all you can do is tip your hat to that play, give your opponent credit for executing a play like that. I saw it and I was like ohhh bleep and then said they pulled one over on us.

I couldn’t get over how good the skill players on both offenses were. That catch Harris made for a TD was beautiful. He was covered pretty well and you don’t expect a running back to come down with that very often. CEH was a monster as well as both QBs. Lots of talented offensive guys out there performing at an elite level.

And at that moment I knew Alabama conceded the fact they were outgunned and outmanned. bama never has to resort to gimmicks, until now.

Spotting a tendency, preparing for it in practice and exploiting it in the game is not resorting to anything. Terrible take.
